Actually, I wonder if it's being replaced by this beer, which looks new (don't think I've seen it before and there are no reviews for it):

It has the same somewhat imperialized ABV as the Oktoberfest did.

The Von Trapp Oktoberfest is in Mass now (saw it at CBC Newton).

Castle Island festbier and Oxbow Oxtoberfest are good beers in the fall. I wish there were more smoky seasonals since those seem to fit the mood for me.

Ditto. Rauchbier is actually what I often crave in the fall. Wish JA’s Fire in the Ham would be routinely available this time every year in 4/6 packs.

I couldn't agree more on the appearance of deciduous...I recommend keepin' that in the can.

I'd go with Copper Legend or Flannel Friday.

That's it, they just relabeled it. Had it last week and it was great, actually thought they went back to the original recipe because it wasn't as sweet and syrupy as last years but seeing that it's still 7.5 I guess they didn't. Better than I remember last years being anyways.

Oxtoberfest hands down. Copper legend is hit or miss for me. It didn't hit the spot for me this year sadly as I had been on a tear with the seasonal 16oz JA 6 packs.

Or even a smoked pumpkin beer for the full effect. I think CBC did one last year. They do wonders with the gourds and have expanded their growler selection quite a bit. I've never been much into pumpkin pie beers.

Went by Redstone today for the first time in a while and they had a pile of a Nightshift Zwickelbier that wasn't Kehl. This one is called Village Lager and looks to have just recently been added to the database.

Anyone know if this is a new beer or just a rebranded Kehl? Nice to see either way!

You're right, I misread the criteria and listed what I used to like to drink in the fall in New England. I was wallowing in nostalgia.

Ha, I was going to reply, "But those are great beers to drink in the fall!"

I haven't had Double Bag in forever, as my tastes have changed over the years I wonder how I'd like it. Last I remember it's nothing like a real Alt, but I might still enjoy it in it's own right.

Truell's Best from Cold Harbor is an outstanding bitter. Seems to rotate year round - growler or onsite pours only. It brings an exceptional light bitterness with a hint of pear that hits the spot and screams Autumn. 4.8% ABV so the growler never becomes a chore. Bilbo's Brown is also a favorite from them although I haven't seen it in a while.

Never stuck around their small spot for a beer but the vibe seems chill and everyone laid back.

I really want to like Roadsmary's Baby from Two Roads because the concept is awesome. Pumpkin, and spices, aged in Rum Barrel's with Vanilla... every year I try it and it is thin as shit with no rum barrel presence.

I dig this beer. Not a lot of rum, but it is well done

I always shy away from this because of the sub 7% abv combined with the rum barrel. Assumed I would get the thin mess you described. My friend who likes sessions recommends it...

Despite having grown out of my pumpkin beer phase, I always look forward to my first Cambridge Brewing Great Pumpkin Ale.

I'll second this - had my first one about 6 or 7 years ago and have bought several each year since. Was crushed a few years ago when they canceled production for some reason. Hope they keep it in the bomber format as for some reason it just prefer it that way.

    Too bad this is retired.

I did like Cambridge's Great Pumpkin at one time.

Still think Smuttynose's Pumpkin is pretty solid, and I always enjoyed putting it in blends (I tend to like it with stouts and porters).

I was gonna say SmuttyNose Pumpkin. I think it's one of the most solid Pumpkin Ales and I look forward to it every year! Besides that, I keep seeing Berkshire's stuff more and more now that they have rebranded and they look much more interesting. I'm sure I'll pick up their Oktoberfest.
