Twin Cities Bottle Hunt - 2017

Not sure where you are at, but may want to check out Mendota Liquours. They still had some Hooey yesterday (obviously it wouldn't hurt to call first).

 

I assume it's out of your way, but there's a tiny liquor store near my place that had Hooey and Blissful Ignorance when I went there right before they closed last night. It's called Strong Liquor, and it's near 394, off of 169 on Cedar Lake Road. It's not exactly a high volume place, so when they get stuff that's somewhat hard to come by, it lasts for a bit.

 

Now that Hwy 169 has re-opened again, north of Crosstown and south of Excelsior Blvd had been closed since January, it is easier to get to Strong Liquor from the south and west part of the metro.

 

Haskell's Maple Grove has a ton of TG DDH Psuedo Sue and XHops Maroon. For the XHops it's in the walk-in cooler, they didn't have enough shelf space. Also some Pompeii and Hopsmack, but those are more limited.

Bloomington total wine has Wet and a new double IPA from Bauhaus called Circus something... Also some DDH pseudo Sue and X Hop maroon

 

Westside in Albertville has it, had to ask though as they hadn't put in on the shelf yet.

Drinking my first one, can't say that I am enjoying it. It seems too sweet (or maybe matly). Either way, I am not a fan.

 

WET? ... woah.

 

I am also in the boat of Wet being "meh", rather sweet, then again, I've had a hard time liking any non "NE Style IPA " recently

 

D'oh, I just noticed that I didn't metion Wet once in my post. I guess I was in my own sad little world over it not being good and just assume everyone knew I was talking about Wet.

 

Thanks for the heads up on WET. Guess I'll save my money. Been really disappointed by Surly lately, and they were one of my favorites. If they manage to screw up Darkness I'm probably done with them for good.

Wet at Whole Foods in the North Loop.

Echoing some of the other comments on it, I think it's OK. I always enjoy fresh hop beers every year though. As an IPA only, it's miles behind other local offerings and way, way behind any accessible TG bombers. I'm curious what Indeed's will be like this year.

Hopsmack was at Whole Foods too.

 

Half way through mine, it’s good. It’s not the old WET, don’t think it ever will be. I get some decent skunky dankness, some bitterness. But yeah, so many better IPAs on the shelf, and no doubt better wet hop beers on the way.

Drinking my first Wet of the year right now and I'm actually really impressed. A lot bigger hop punch then I remember it being in 2015 and 14 when I thought it was kind of overrated. More like it used to be earlier.
