That's actually two boxes, with some sort of humungo-box (25Lbs!) about to obliterate me that's in UPS limbo right now.

Hi everyone! Can received from the NBS BIF from @jhartley . I had a pale ale from this brewery while in Key West about 2 years ago, remember enjoying.

This is Screamin’ Reels IPA from SaltWater Brewery out of FLA.

Poured into a snifter. The brew is orange/golden straw with a thick white foamy head. The head takes a while to settle down into a thick bubbly collar and floating islands of foam.

Aroma is layers of citrus, bitter rind, spicy zest and sweet juice of orange and grapefruit.

Flavor is also full of citrus. Big bitter lemon peel and grapefruit pith balances out the sweet juicy flavors of orange, ruby red grapefruit and some lemon drop candy.

Body is medium with moderate carbonation, easy to drink with crisp bitterness.

Thanks @jhartley This is a nice all around brew that would go nice with a day out fishing off the FLA coast!

Well, the Red Sox extend their season by one game, at least. Figure I’d delve into a vertical given to me by @jvgoor3786 as we conducted a not-so-clandestine trade in person in a mall parking garage:

Start with the two newer options. I’m actually recording the full vertical as a review, but will give a summary here:
The ‘16 has a bit of alcohol, fig, and white raisin coming off its ever so slightly muddled light brown body. There’s a woodennote in the nose that I think presents as earthy in the taste after the fruit and alcohol from the nose present themselves.

The ‘17 has a slightly sweeter and more distinct date note in nose and taste. This one actually has a wooden aspect in back. Both have their sweetness neutralized more than balanced, leaving a lighter, thinner feel than I expected.

    The journey will continue shortly...

My next beer I picked up this weekend and could not wait to try it (I am a Tired hands Milkshake wannabe). This is All The Boys brewed with Mango and Lychee brewed by Bhramari in Asheville, NC. Let me begin my saying I have no idea what a Milkshake IPA should taste like since I have only had one and it was terrible. This is a solid IPA soft creamy nice hop flavor with tropical flavors and vanilla.

Appearance 3.75 - Pours cloudy orange color with decent white head. Very light dusting of lacing.

Aroma 4.25 - Mild tropical fruit mango, lychee and passion fruit. Vanilla and a light floral aroma.

Taste 4 - Same tropical fruit as the nose. Mango, pineapple and lychee. The vanilla is a little stronger in the taste and there are some decent hop flavors on the finish.

Feel 4 - Medium bodied soft creamy carbonation but pretty bitter as well.

Overall 4.05 - This is only my second milkshake IPA and the first was not good. This is a great beer, nice flavors and hoppy/ tropical aromas.

Popped open my second beer I received from the NBS BIF and put it into some proper glassware!

Can poured into a matching glass! Both sent by the great @jhartley in the amazing NBS BIF.

Orange straw colored brew, pretty hazed but not like a NE juice bomb, foamy white head, settles slowly. Big bubbled foam. Leaves nice lacing swirling around the glass.

Lots of citrus, sweet, zesty, bitter with some earthy resins.

This comes across really citrusy in the flavor, nice layers of lemon, grapefruit, orange, some spicy lime. All citrus characteristics, pith, zest, juice. Nice brew for warm weather.

Moderate carbonation and medium body. Smooth, very easy drinking.

Great easy drinking beer. Would be perfect for day drinking events (e.g. beach/fishing/events).

    Last blind one by @SammyJaxxxx

Appearance: really light, transparent pour with minimal head

Aroma: smells like a berliner/gose/sour with a slight salty aroma to it...also carries a little bit of citrus scent to it

Taste: mmmm, great for a hot day. medium carb with a sour, slightly salty and citrus'y finish. it is very refreshing.

Where I'd drink this: during a hot day at the beach or after some yard work

Overall: this is really solid/great. I'd take a 12 pack to the beach with some friends and hit some waves or go fishing with this. Thanks again for a great blind beer and an overall excellent experience Greg. I owe you for this!

    Timmermans Oude Gueuze Limited Edition

The only time I ever had a Timmermans beer, I was in Brussels and had a Faro of theirs from cask. I really enjoyed it for its subtlety. I always wanted to buy a bottle of something from them ever since.

This beer isn't what I'd call subtle. Carbonation is much lighter than expected. Sour green apple aroma hits immediately. The acidity of this one is just too high. The bottle is 3.5 years old, so age could be a big factor here. This tastes like lemon juice. No complexity. Lacking enough earthiness that I would enjoy as a counterpart.

I think many would like the personality of this beer, but it just isn't my cup of tea.

A new-to-me sour to go with my 3 days in the crock pot vegan chili this evening and they work really well together! Chilpotles, jalapenos, smoked paprika, Vidalia onions, green bell peppers, garlic, and black pepper for the heat with black beans, kidney beans, fire roasted diced tomatoes, and Herbs de Provence.

Moderate to vigorous pour yields a 1/4 inch white head over a slightly hazy light golden body with no lacing. Nose of peach and ever so slight funk. Taste of peach and sour peach with an okay feel and a nice finish. Overall, a decent sour from Denver. Cheers!

Busting into my mystery beer from @jhartley
    [IMG]
Rinsed out my proper glassware which was also provided by @jhartley so I can experience this thing without distractions.

Popped the can open and gave a whiff. First impression is that it is definitely in the sour category. Tartness and some sour candy comes out of the popped top along with some fresh tart berries. Not sure exactly on the berries, but seems like raspberries.

Has a pinkish hue, cloudy and big bubbled foam head. The head also has a slight pink color. The bubbles slowly pop themselves out into a think collar and cap.

Flavor is bright tart fruits. I'm leaning more towards blueberry after the first sip. Like the blueberries that need another day or two on the bush. They taste good, but still a bit tart.

Lightly sweet and crisp. This is a refreshing brew. Soft on the palate and a bit of a creaminess to the texture.

Overall, a well done berry sour. The fruit is not fake tasting, fresh and real. Very refreshing and easy to drink. Wish I cracked it open in the sun today, we had a last whisp of summer that quickly chilled off after the sun went down today.

I'll open the masking to see how I did.

I was pretty close. I got blueberry which was true and thought raspberry based on the aroma, also true. Didn't pick out blackberry, but thats pretty similar to raspberry.

    Thanks @jhartley Tasty brew!

Next up - and keeping with the NBS BIF box - Rodenbach Alexander.

Well, I'm a sucker for Rodenbach, and cherries are my favorite food, so this was a no-brainer. There was little doubt I was going to love it.

A little softer and more approachable than the vintage Rodenbach offerings, and more in line with Grand Cru or Caractere Rouge, Alexander features moderate sourness with associated puckering, light tannins, vinegar notes, and cherries - which particularly come through on the back third.

It's not the most complex Rodenbach, but it's nothing less than delectable.

No official review, but let's do like an eisbock and allow gravity to get us to the thing:

I hate witbiers but I kinda like this Celis White. Maybe it took Celis reopening to open my mind to the wheat/coriander/clove/all-spice thing that wits do, but this brew is super light, fluffy, tasty and very easy to handle. Might be the mouthfeel that really has me going here; the mouthfeel is super carbonated to fill out a lightweight liquid, which is definitely my favorite (see Jester King, Prairie Artisan and at least half of what Germany and Belgium ships across the pond).

I will rate it over 4.0. Can't say how much more, but if you like wits or like well-made brews, Celis White is for you.

    Cheers!

I met @cavedave at one of the Top Hops drinkathons he mentioned above. While I introduced myself as "Chris" immediately, I didn't introduce myself as "zid" until late in the day. I honestly didn't think that that would mean anything to anyone. I don't think that I make an impression. Cavedave's reaction was, "Why didn't you tell me you were zid!!" When he went on to say that I had a dark sense of humor, I realized that he really did know who I was. I felt bad that we didn't make that realization a little sooner. Good man.
