    That’s interesting.

Municipalities deny permits all of the time and rely on the fact that a business isn't going to want to spend thousands of dollars to bring a lawsuit. My point is that if they really wanted to stick it to Sand City denying a permit for a can release would do it. It also would be tied directly to the source of much of the Village's issues with Sand City so as to likely pass muster judicially.

Denying a permit isn't difficult. Proving that is was done for a nefarious purpose is.

The only plausible explanation for why SC is being harassed by the town is that they have enemies in high places (or enemies with friends in high places) who have a stick up their butt and consider the can releases to be a 'nuisance' not befitting the character of the town. Normally, a successful business wouldn't receive this kind of treatment, unless they are of the "adult" variety or are actually contributing to the breaking of laws due to lack of oversight (eg. drunk patrons fighting on the street outside an overcrowded dance club).

The town was pissed at the landlord (Sand City only rents the space) who procrastinated about making the required wooden walkway replacement. Now the resentment is extended to the brewery, who has no control over the repair work. Other townspeople joined the circus by making additional complaints (like noise complaints from people living on upper floors near the brewery).

It's sad to see that other businesses, that benefit from extra foot traffic and sales from Sand City visitors, do not speak up and defend the brewery. The town certainly could have worked out a solution that would be better than the total shutdown of the brewery's tap room, since the brewery does have a rear entrance. Eventually, some other town will be more attractive (and business friendly) and Sand City can move and eventually have room to expand.

Sand City has been a great neighborhood business and has supported other neighborhood activities, businesses, and even people with Charity events like the tragic boating accident death of Ryan John Weiss:

We come together as a community touched by this tragedy to mourn this unimaginable loss.
Hosted by Sand City Brewery on Wednesday, August 16, 2017. All proceeds go to the Ryan John Weiss Memorial Fund.

This a business that should not be treated in this manner. As a recent can name expressed the current climate, Enough Already.

It's never good to be stuck in the middle between two squabbling parties. :grimacing:
Hopefully this eventually all works out for the best for SC.

That's exactly my point. The Village could just deny the permit, but have yet to do so despite the fact that they have issues with the can releases.

There is no ability to appeal the denial of a permit to the Town (of Huntington). The Village has independent jurisdiction. The appeal would be internal and ultimately to the state supreme court if unsuccessful.

Not lame at all and you miss the point. It' not a matter of aesthetics (Northport has that covered) it's a matter of beer DIPA coming out of Mass and VT enjoying a presumption of legitimacy.

I’m drinking one right now and it is absolutely delicious. For a beer 3 days old, at 8.7%, it is really smooth. A friend picked me up a 4 so I had to try one tonight. It’s basically what I expect from them at this point.

One thing I hope continues, the cans are dated(!!).

I drank a Beachfront Ave earlier tonight and I gotta say I was seriously impressed at how good it still is, 2 months later. The pineapple has held up well.

I missed the can release but I had it on tap the following day. Delicious beer in a collab with my two favorite local breweries. Reminiscing about when SC’s tasting room was still open...

Rolled up today at 11, no line, grabbed both beers, the way acquiring beer should be.The collab is excellent, will probably only get better. So, That Happened has an insane funky smell, barnyard funk!

Love both the new ones. Release was eerily quiet...line didn't appear until after 9a and by the time cans went on sale it was only about 50 ppl. Think the rain plus the 5 great releases in the area yesterday kept people away from lining up.

I bought the Other Half yesterday and my buddies bought the Sand City today. Perfect. I wish every weekend worked out like this.

I've still never had any beers that are just Sand City, but their collab w/ Barrier was absolutely stellar.

Had a Luca Baby Saturday night, man was it delicious for a session IPA. Would love more of these flavorful lower abv "sessions", so I don't keep destroying my liver with the 8-10% range.

Got there at 1230 yesterday and grabbed some beer bc I figured they would not be open today. Of course they are open today when I’m 10 mins away and not 60 mins away. Oh well! Tried both new beers...right now Roots is the winner. A killer beer that showcases the Nelson when it warms up.

I hope their taproom issue gets settled soon.

Saw the tweet cans were still available, loved the collab so shot back out there today to get some more. I know the beers will sell out, but with tap room closed and less cash flow, figured supporting them as much as possible now is important.
Hit Brew Cheese too while I was there, a nice selection of high end, eclectic grilled cheese sandwiches, really enjoyed the one I had. They have local beers on tap also.
