anyone up for petitioning Surly to revert back to Bitter Brewer in lieu of X-tra Citra.
my previous weekly 4pk of Surly session ale has now turned into an isolated once a year test.

Am I the only one who liked Inherent Weiss? Also, interesting to hear that Cynic doesn't move well. I've always enjoyed it, as have the less hoppsessed members of our fam.

looking forward to hopshifter 4-packs. hopefully thy're in the $12 range not the $16-18 range.

 

As a straight up session beer to drink in the hot sun, Bitter Brewer was always more satisfying to me than Xtra Citra.

 

I think Xtra Citra may be the MN craft beer of choice for the macro drinker. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a customer carrying a case of light beer along with a 4 pack or two of Xtra Citra.

 

IMO Hell would be a better choice, but I can understand this option as well.

 

I know in my usual store Surly is occupying a LOT less cooler space than they were even 2 years ago.

Agree, so long as they go back to the original recipe. Bitter Brewer the last couple of years was a shell of its former self. It was one and done for me.

Having some now and it’s the most I’ve enjoyed it in years.

 

I think it's tasting pretty dang good. Provides a nice break from the haze. This style might just catch on.

 

Heh, I didn't want to say anything I just wanted to get others impressions before "tainting the waters" with my own opinion. I had 1 can last night and that was after a CD Red Hop.

Seems to be a bit muted on the hops to me this year. Nice malt flavor to it but just seemed a bit mellow I guess. Was hoping for a bit more aggressive hop bitterness. But it could have just been my palate last night.. If others are liking it. Good thing is I have 3 more chances to determine if it's me or not

Indeed. These soft, fruity, hazy IPAs really make me appreciate a good west coast IPA more than ever before.
