Magic Hat #9 was my first "wow" beer. It's not a favorite anymore, but I have a soft spot for it and don't mind drinking it every now and then.

Been drinking Belgians and others from across since the mid 1980's. Found craft at a "festival" and enjoyed those beers and meetin g Carol Stoudt there. From there it was a search for more "better" beer.

The first beer I fell in love with has to be the original Celis White. That beer was so good and different than anything I had tried before.

Grants perfect Porter was also a great beer but it was not so easy to find and thus I had no "love".

I have had thousands of beers over they years and to this day none have hit me as hard as Celis.

Had my journey gone a different way maybe it would be another beer.

Back then Celis was a beer I bought anytime I saw it at a bar. Today there is really no beer I can't live without.

    Enjoy

Miller High Life. Cheated on her with Sam Adams Cherry Wheat. Slept around with Parabola and Sucaba then had a steady thing going with a gal named Heady but eventually settled down with my true love, Haze.

But I must say, every now and then I do go a little sour on her and stray with Lacto, Pedio and Brett.

Smelling the cap off my fathers bottle of Michelob over thirty five years ago. That’s when I knew someday, this beer stuff is gonna be where it’s at.

I feel like this is an impossible question for me. I started drinking beer LONG before I enjoyed it. It was the social and cultural thing to do. I think the first beer I ever had was Bud Light, but I didn't like it. I feel like I very gradually started to enjoy it, but it took years and years. I used to think Odell's beers were all very bitter, and the less-bitter Fat Tire may have been the first one I actually enjoyed, but it's hard to say. New Belgium's wheat beer, Sunshine Wheat, may have been the first. Man, 1999 feels like a long long time ago.

The first beer that ever made me realize just how bland and boring the swill (Kölsch) I was used to really was, was Rosemarie, an aptly named rosemary beer at Cologne's infamous brewpub Braustelle. Little did I know at the time that this place was actually one of the leading pioneers of the craft beer movement in all of Germany, brewing beer creatively for 17 years, starting long before anyone had ever heard the term "craft beer" in Germany.

As a teenager I hated the taste of the first beer I drank. Did like my first shot of Bourbon though.

I never liked beer into my mid-20's. The best beer I had tried up to that point was probably Killian's Red.

I wound up bartending part-time at a local bar in my hometown once or twice a week. Somehow, despite their American Adjunct Lager clientele, they let their distributor talk them into a keg of Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Porter.

This beer blew my mind...I couldn't believe how much enjoyable flavor was packed into each sip.

Time has passed & I much prefer a less hoppy porter now...but I'll never forget my gateway drug. Truly, this was the first beer I really loved.

Started a job at a local liquor store and I was browsing the beer aisles and saw North Coasts Brother Thelonious. I knew nothing about beer outside of icehouse and the big boys at the time, but I grew up playing jazz guitar and listening to jazz music so i decided to pick it up and it blew my feeble mind. I was bringing it to every party to get people to try and i even ordered the t shirt they advertise in the bottom of the four pack

We drank whatever was cheap back in the day, so lots of Keystone Lite, Bud Light, Coors, etc. We thought getting a six pack of Killian's Irish Red was exotic.

I dabbled in craft beer a bit here and there, but didn't fully commit until; I had Goose Island Honker's Ale on tap in Chicago after seeing a Tool concert. After that, I came to the sobering (pun) realization that I had been squandering my existence in New Glarus, WI for the past 4 years. Once I started buying up all of their product, it was off to the races.
