Alright so I'm drinking this 5 days later and no longer tastes like a session IPA but actually now is true to style. Perhaps having it 2 days from it being canned hops were still a bit too active. Guess the beer needed time to develop. I'd say it's perfect now.

Idk if Gansett is on the brain because u memtioned it price wise but solid gold reminds me of the older narragansett summer ale. Not the new citra summer but the older on . Someone tag the dude who buys paletts of gansett. He from NY. Forget his name.

Palettes? Damn...and I thought that I bought shitloads of Narragansett.

While it’s true that I’d buy Narragansett over this if I was craving an AAL, I do have to tip my hat to Founders for even making the effort. They did a good job. I feel weird saying this, but perhaps this beer will win over some of the younger generation of craft beer enthusiasts who refuse any beer that isn’t labeled an IPA. Small market share, sure, but a noble effort by Founders (good profit margins for them too, I’m sure)

Also, I dig the can art. Reminds me a lot of one of my favorite AALs: Coor’s Extra Gold, which is actually my #2 behind Narragansett. Unfortunately Extra Gold doesn’t really get the love it deserves here, IMO; which is another way of saying it’s better than Hamm’s. Yeah, I said it!:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I'll have to wait and try it before I go any further, but it's certinly uphill before I feel the need to pay $10 for a six of any AAL. If it's a bit better than an AAL at that price then it's up against a Pils Urquell for my money, at like $14 a 12 pack. So well see.

No. Victory Home Grown is far more hop forward than Solid Gold.

I paid $10.99 for a 15 pack so I can’t complain too much at that price. $10 a six is pretty much out of the question for me. I’d skip too. Cheers

I picked up a single and will try later this week and I too enjoy the can art.

Well Hamms is about $13 a 30 pack. Can't see buying this new founders with such a big price difference. If I want a different beer that in my taste is similar I can get warsteiner pils for $17 a case and dab is around $18-19 in 500 ml cans

    Enjoy

When I said earlier it costs a lot more that was based on the local $8.99 a six pack.

Founder's price is competitive with many premium AALs and way less than typical "craft" beer. It's not Hamms cheap, but very few beers are. You may find Solid Gold more fresh than imported DAB and Warsteiner too. If you don't mind AALs I recommend trying Solid Gold at least once, particularly when you can be sure it's fresh, like now.

Decided to try this over the weekend. It was ok. Had it next to a Sams 76 which didn't do this beer any favors. Much more "dull" comparatively. 7.99 for a six pack.

JK, I paid $8.99 (plus sales tax) for the 6-pack I purchased at my local Retail Beer Distributor last week. The listed price for the 15-pack was $14.99.

    Cheers!

Just picked up a 15-pack. I was pretty excited when there were four pages of comments for a beer style that this website describes as a "pale, fizzy lager."

I fell for it. I saw a new Founders beer for $7.99 and thought, hey what a good deal! It tastes alright but give me Summerfest year round at $8.99 (or on sale at $7.99).

It kind of reminds me of Surly #Merica. It's not bad--I think I'm just used to American-style lagers using Cluster or similar hops that it's different enough than what I'm used to for the style.

Had Solid Gold side by side with Pilsner Urquell two days ago and preferred the PU. Price per ounce was about the same.
