My parent's house--despite best efforts. Generic grocery store branded lager.

US --the Black Mingo region of SC. Somewhere/nowhere between Hemingway/Jamestown/Kingstree. Colt 45 is about it.

Outside US--a surprise to me--the Patagonia Region of Argentina. Found Quilmes--horrid. Stick with wine or brown water.

Or maybe it was Mountain State Brewing. (Did the rear patio overlook the river?) I liked this place when I stopped there to tick WV off of my states-visited-and-beer-drunk list last year. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/44854/?view=ratings

Hold up Hoss! We got Molson, Labatt, Moosehead and at least three other brands up here. I’m enjoying a cold one in my igloo right now!

Researched the hell out of it before my trip there last year (Bangalore) and found that they had a nice brewpub within walking distance of my hotel. 4 out of the 5 beers were really good, the 5th was like a white IPA and they had bombed it out with coriander. Man I thought there IPA was as good as Pliny when I was there, but realized towards the end of the week it wasn't but it was serviceable. They are just now starting to get into craft beer, there were several brewpubs in the area, but none were as good as the one I stayed next too. I talked with a brewer and he said there were people looking at where they could grow barley and hops in the country to cut down on imports.

There are several good breweries there, The Courtyard, Parleaux Beer Lab and probably one of the best beer bars around The Avenue Pub. Issue is they are not in the middle of Bourbon Street, where most people want to hang out and people watch

Really? The Miami Metropolitan Area has a lot of breweries now.

Awesome. I'm happy to hear it.

They would certainly be "cold-conditioned."

Off topic, but I've always struggled with the notion that Indian cuisine exhibits an amazing array of flavours, and this is speaking as someone who is slightly obsessed with it. I find it all kind of samey, albeit delightfully so, from north to south, east to west. The spices don't really change that much.

IMO, Courtyard has the best craft brew "vibe" of the breweries in NOLA, specifically the French Quarter. NOLA Taproom is runner up.

Crescent City (Brewing) is... meh. It's kinda tourist-trappy.

When my recycling bins get picked up, and you can hear the clanging from down the block... "the cacophony is magnificent"

I completely agree with that. Last fall during my visit I had a couple visits/beers at Crescent City and they were OK beers. I did enjoy the place itself though.

    Cheers!

One of the best parts about Avenue Pub is that it is not on Bourbon Street. I love the Garden District and St Charles Ave. Don't forget about Stein's Market either.

I remember liking Crescent City a lot when I first visited, this is probably 10 years ago now. Tried it again relatively recently, and yeah pretty average and more of a tourist spot. I'm sure that has to do more with my tastes changing than anything.

For being a large city on the East Coast... try buying craft beer in a store in Philadelphia. Sure the bars and restaurants have fine selections, but I was hard pressed to find a store selling anything but a 6-pack of bud light. Did some internet research and learned from locals that the best Philly craft beer store is in Delaware.

Was that Arbor Brewing? They have a 'franchised' location that I think is in Bangalore, although I'm not sure it uses the Arbor name.

I was stunned at the lack of a beer scene in Lubbock, TX. 250k people and 1.5 breweries?!

I find this pretty baffling, to be honest. Where in Canada were you? The major cities generally fare better than the smaller towns, but even then that's not always the case (Tofino Brewing Co. in Tofino, BC and Twin City in Port Alberni, BC come to mind). BC is definitely the haven, but more and more solid places have been popping up in the other provinces over the last few years. Here in Toronto we do alright, and someone already mentioned Montreal. Hell, I was in Winnipeg this past fall and had some pretty good local pints there. I wouldn't say we've got "meager offerings" up here.

There are a few others in Bangalore, I have been told they are more German themed.

I dunno, when I visit India I definitely taste major differences between North and South. Dosas in Tamil Nadu, Vindaloo in Goa, vs Mughlai cuisine in Delhi and Tibetan/Nepali influenced food in Dharmasla. I can't think of a country with as much variety

I once had a long layover in Qatar, around 12 hours or so. I spent most of that time wandering around Doha on foot, not a beer to be found. In that heat, a cheap lager would have been great.
