Early for some, already mid morning for me and this is tickling my fancy . . .

Hazy golden color with white cap.

The aroma first struck me as sweet malt overlain with citrus and floral scents. It was after I read the label I realized those were due to the Kaffir lime leaves, ginger and chamomile. These scent tones are not strong by any means, rather sort of mild and very pleasant.

Taste is medium bodied sweet grain with the citrus-floral influence present from start to finish. Rather simple flavors but well combined in a way that each complements the other. There is also a spicy element highlighted by the Belgian yeast notes of ripe yellow fruit and clove. A relaxing and pleasing combination.

Drinking Old Chimneys: Good King Henry. Not a well know beer, but take my word for it. It’s a beauty. Smooth as silk, even from the bottle!

Having a pre-beach beer and this is a real winner from Benchtop. Proven Theory ipa...ton of grapefruit, nice bitter backbone, nice feel for an ipa, real nice drinker. Got real lucky with this weather, beautiful out.

Good morning, BAs! Thanks to @vabeerguy for this earthy AF IPA. I generally find high earthiness offputting, but this is one tasty brew.

Also God, Mike, you were hitting it hard on last night’s thread I see! You must be feeling it this morning.

I could be wrong, but it appears as though you are drinking a large-format high abv stout directly from the bottle on a train? :flushed:

Nothing too shocking. I mean, about the norm for your late-night wine drinking posts. :grimacing:

I did go through a lot of wine. Here is hoping I did not piss anyone off. I have a habit of doing that from time to time.

This is your first RVA trip, right? You’re gonna be like a kid at xmas down there. Plan for at least 4 hours at The Answer. It’s always my favorite stop on my Richmond trips.

First time in RVA, D.C and Philly... i’m staying right by Scotts’ Addition, so lots of breweries close by, but The Answer is my number one destination, maybe on the whole trip...

I would put it #1 as well, although I know you’ll love Tired Hands. The Answer is in its own category though. You just need to try every single thing on the beer menu.

The places I will not miss for anything are The Answer and The Veil in RVA, Churchkey in D.C, Tired Hands and Crime & Punishment in Philly and Grimm in New York.
