Some excellent local juice to start this beautiful Thursday. Cheers all
Early for some, already mid morning for me and this is tickling my fancy . . .
Hazy golden color with white cap.
The aroma first struck me as sweet malt overlain with citrus and floral scents. It was after I read the label I realized those were due to the Kaffir lime leaves, ginger and chamomile. These scent tones are not strong by any means, rather sort of mild and very pleasant.
Taste is medium bodied sweet grain with the citrus-floral influence present from start to finish. Rather simple flavors but well combined in a way that each complements the other. There is also a spicy element highlighted by the Belgian yeast notes of ripe yellow fruit and clove. A relaxing and pleasing combination.
Good morning BAs! Today's New Breakfast Beer, much better than yesterday's:
Goodmorning advocates... This beer is always world class
On my way to the Cloudwater taproom in Manchester.
Drinking Old Chimneys: Good King Henry. Not a well know beer, but take my word for it. It’s a beauty. Smooth as silk, even from the bottle!
(4 days in to my annual beer break. I miss beer).
Having a pre-beach beer and this is a real winner from Benchtop. Proven Theory ipa...ton of grapefruit, nice bitter backbone, nice feel for an ipa, real nice drinker. Got real lucky with this weather, beautiful out.
Surfaced by Alefarm, pale ale dry hopped with Mosaic. Lovely...
I am joining @Socialillness this morning.
Good morning, BAs! Thanks to @vabeerguy for this earthy AF IPA. I generally find high earthiness offputting, but this is one tasty brew.
Also God, Mike, you were hitting it hard on last night’s thread I see! You must be feeling it this morning.
I am feeling rough around the edges. I dread seeing what I posted.
I could be wrong, but it appears as though you are drinking a large-format high abv stout directly from the bottle on a train?
Nothing too shocking. I mean, about the norm for your late-night wine drinking posts.
I did go through a lot of wine. Here is hoping I did not piss anyone off. I have a habit of doing that from time to time.
I was so damned envious of your RVA posts, but hey, I’ll be there in three months...
Watching Tiger make a dog's breakfast of his first round ...
This is your first RVA trip, right? You’re gonna be like a kid at xmas down there. Plan for at least 4 hours at The Answer. It’s always my favorite stop on my Richmond trips.
First time in RVA, D.C and Philly... i’m staying right by Scotts’ Addition, so lots of breweries close by, but The Answer is my number one destination, maybe on the whole trip...
I would put it #1 as well, although I know you’ll love Tired Hands. The Answer is in its own category though. You just need to try every single thing on the beer menu.
The places I will not miss for anything are The Answer and The Veil in RVA, Churchkey in D.C, Tired Hands and Crime & Punishment in Philly and Grimm in New York.
My mid-work week break, so starting easily...
Haha glad I had an influence on the Philly part of your list!
Well, it nearly looks like a morning cup o' joe, but no. It's merely an AM beer. Yes, I drink in the morning. Still hits the spot...
Cloudwater: DDH Citra
Stay strong, my friend!
Plenty of La Cumbre, Oskar Blues, and Half Acre beers to set you right when you're ready!
Deucebox. A double citrus IPA from Fourpure Brewing (UK).
Breakfast: 12welve Eyes Brewing Strawberry Rhubarb Milkshake IPA
Yeah, but what else are vacations for!
That is a baller start to a vacation! Nicely played.
Awesome! I'll be traveling from Liverpool via Manchester to Hull in October. I hope I can squeeze in a visit Cloudwater's taproom.
Cloudwater: Summer Pale & Speyside BA Chocolate Stout
warming up on the side.
Hoboken Cityside IPA
Paired with some loaded waffle fries and buffalo cauliflower
You sure had!
Cloudwater have just this week expanded their taproom and opening hours. It’s well worth a visit. Not far at all from Piccadilly Station either so a detour won’t take you long.
I know Hull very well too. Feel free to send me a message if you want some recommendations. Check out the “Ale Trail” too!
Time to review some beer, drink some beer and listen to some tunes! Oh, and by the by, how good is Narrow Gauge, guys?
I think they're worth checking out. That DDH OJ Run was dope. Cheers!
They're releasing Sparkle Motion, Fallen Flag and OJ run in Copenhagen tomorrow. I guess I have to go...
