Uploading a beer photo on iPad

You say “suggested sites” which include what?

Postimages.org is what I use on my IPhone. I know IPads are a different animal however. Have you tried that one?

 

I use Imgur on my iPad and iPhone for every image post on this site. Has worked great for me. I used to use photobucket before they started charging for image sharing.

 

Oh, I’ve only done from computer using the apps they recommend.

and I am very happy using it.

 

You don't need a third party site to upload a pic of a beer bottle or label or a building pic for a Places photo. Simply upload the file from your device's storage area. (I don't know if this means that the Cloud will work.) The pic has to meet the BA site requirements of dimensions and bytes. I think dimensions are 150 wide x 300 tall pixels (look that one up to be sure), and the bytes must be less than 20 Kb. If those sizes are not met the pic will be rejected. (It's been a while since I learned the hard way that size is important, but it seems like if you submit a pic that doesn't meet the requirements, nothing happens -- meaning you don't get an error notice the pic was rejected. It just doesn't do anything.)

 

I can use MS Paint to crop and get the dimensions okay, but most times I can't get the bytes down to size. So, yeah, that's when I also use a third party site.

 

Can someone help? I've tried using Imgur to post pictures but it isn't working. I've tried copying the link and pasting into the Image URL but no luck. I've tried on my iPhone and laptop. What am I doing wrong or what is an easier way?

 

Is it the Direct Link that you're copying? (Not the page address from the top of your screen.) You have to upload a pic to Imgur, then go to the page for that pic before you'll see the Direct Link as one of four link options off to the right of the page. Usually if you click on that Direct link it will automatically be copied to your clipboard (you'll get a bubble saying that it was copied).

 

Craig talked me thru it, I use Imjur and it's really easy to use. I tried other services and I had no shot, I could never get it to work.

 

I have the same issue on my iPad. I can do it no problem on a lap top with Imgur. I think the app is the issue.

Try signing into Imgur using Chrome rather than the app.

Yeah, I can't figure out how to make it work using the app, only using a web browser.

 

I use the app on an iPhone and on an iPad. The key is to open the picture to the black background and then hit the open box with the up arrow icon. You can't use the link that you get from the share icon.

By black background I mean open the single picture from your posts, it will open with a gray background with upvote, downvote, fave and share on the bottom. Tap the picture itself again and it will move to the middle of the screen with a black background. A single icon (an open topped box with up arrow) will appear in a circle on bottom of screen. Click icon, click copy link. This link will work for posting in BA. I assume this is the direct link as compared to the Copy Link that shows up when you click on share.
