Last call as the late game just ended. I picked up a 4 pack that was in a section labeled 'Great American Beer Fest' when I was shopping in Frisco. It's a fun time of year around Colorado that is always full of surprises! I'm a fan of Odd 13 so this recent drop of Stanky Cape Man DIPA dated 09/06/18 was a must try. Poured in a 13oz. snulip for the review.

Pours a brilliant orange with a creamy finger of white foam that gradually settles to form a thin ring. A little lacing is present. The smell is a cornucopia of tropical fruit including guava, passionfruit, blood orange and pineapple. Taste is floral, peppery spice, guava, blood orange and stone fruit. The feel is pillowy soft, slightly acidic and dry.

Odd 13 brews some amazing IPA's and this is no exception. A sensory overload of lupulin delight! My score is 4.52 and was the first review.

Have a great week. I'm going to boot up the Roku for a little mindless TV. Here's a bedtime story for you......

Moderate to vigorous pour yields a one inch light tan head over a dark brown body with some lacing. Nose of coconut, chocolate, and caramel. Taste of chocolate, caramel, and finishing with sea salt. Not quite picking up on the sea salt's smoked attributes as of yet. This could change after warming up a bit. Feel is a tad thinner than I was hoping for but not too detrimental to my overall enjoyment. Nose is still coconut forward while taste is more chocolate and caramel forward as it warms. Smoked sea salt is way, way back on the nose and palate as it approaches room temperature, but that's okay with me. All in all I enjoyed this offering from Braintree, VT. Cheers!

Hi there late night NBS. Picked this up the other day at the local bottle shop:

Look: Black with a small dark tan head. Poured it pretty hard and the head only showed up at the end, and it didn't last long. Not much lacing.

Smell: I am getting a ton of roasted coffee while its cold, followed by a slight smell of peanut butter. As it warms I am getting a tiny bit more PB and some chocolate.

Taste: Roasted coffee dominates the front, but peanut butter is all over the finish, with small notes of chocolate and toffee.

Feel: On the thicker side and creamy. Also has a dryness to the finish, really excels here.

Overall: Really solid peanut butter stout. Wish the coffee didn't dominate as much as it does.

Back again NBS. Excited to try this one as well, since I’ve generally been a fan of the series. Mikkeller’s Hallo Ich Bin Berliner weisse with pineapple.
L: 4.25 straw yellow in color. Somewhat unfiltered in appearance but not as cloudy as other variants. As always, a massive 3 fingers of head from a simple pour. Copious amounts of residual lacing.
S: 3.25 somewhat tart on the nose with slight acidity. Not getting much pineapple on the nose which is a bummer. Malty/breadyness also present with with hints of black pepper and lemon. There is a sweet presence in the beer, but it doesn’t stand out compared to others from the series.
T: 3.50 again, not much pineapple. In fact, I’m not sure that I would be able to point out pineapple if I didn’t know what I was drinking. I get that yeasty/bready Berliner flavor with moderate tartness and some acidity. That said, really wish there was a greater pineapple presence.
F: 3.75 thin in body and light-ish in weight. Carbonation is moderate for the style.
O: 3.50 not my favorite from the series, but I’m still
Glad to have tried. The pineapple is bar-none, but there is a somewhat fruit presence in the beer. As a Berliner in itself I appreciate it. Cheers all, hope you had/are having a great Sunday.
    Final BA Score: 3.51

I'm a little confused that it's "quite drinkable" yet you mentioned "drain pour." And your ratings are 4's. I've had some beers that are "all over the yard" but I'm missing something.

Happy Late Night Abbreviated New Beer Sunday (Week 708)!

I am happy to report that my meet-up with @CanConPhilly was a success. I made a couple of stops along the way & then caught a local bus up to his place to have a few beers on his deck & go for some chow before heading home. I now have a nice bag of spent CANs for my CANtact in York County + I was able to catch an earlier train home. I also caught some sunburn so I laid down upon my return, only now arising. Well, it affords me the opportunity to get in another one for the day:

Getting a late entry on the only new beer I had today. Working near 70 hours this week must have taken it's toll as I dozed off with my little one while getting him to sleep. Also maybe a late post will be an under the radar BIF haul hint.
This is the first new one I've had from CC in a bit, had to add it to the system.

Context & Memory is an American Pale Ale (5.5%) made with Mosaic, Citra, & Galaxy hops. The name is derived from a quote from the late Anthony Bourdain - "Context and memory play powerful roles in all the truly great meals in one's life." This for us as a craft brewery also translates to the beers we drink. Drinking a great beer often has to do with more than just the liquid in the glass. When we came up with the concept of this beer, we thought about heading out to hop harvest and what type of beer we’d like to drink in the middle of a hop field – something bright & juicy with a big aroma that showcases the beautiful Humulus Lupulus plant that provides us with such enjoyment. We hope that when you drink it, you can see imagine yourself standing among hops along with us!
Pours a mostly clear golden orange with two fingers of fluffy white head.
Smells fruity, hard for me to distinguish what dominates. I'm getting a blend of pineapple, berry, peach, citrus, guava. Some resinous pine notes as well.
Taste is similar, I get more of the guava and resinous notes but the other fruits are there.
    Light to medium body.
Overall a refreshing APA! Would have loved this around the pool when it was a bit warmer out.

I have been on the good side of @TongoRad 's generosity, for which I am very grateful, and have enjoyed Catskill Brewery beers thanks to Michael's kindness.

If that sounds weird, since I basically live in the Shawangunk Mtns. branch of the Catskills, it is due to the strange reality of getting to the town of Livingston Manor from here that makes it an extreme example of "as the crow flies" versus actually driving there. Hopefully now that they can I will be getting some nearer to home.

Glad to hear you are safe, and your people who are in harm's way are in my thoughts, sending some hippy dry the fuck out quick good vibes down your way, man.

The only good thing I can say, looking pretty deep for this slightly silver lining, is that after my area got destroyed by 20+ inches of rain from Floyd, two weeks later as things dried in the woods, there was a flush of late season shrooms that was amazing. I suspect if you like Blewitts (Lepista nuda) there will be a blue million of them out soon.

Spoke a bit too soon, as the storm heads north were getting hammered with wind and especially rain. It's flooding in spots and roads and bridges are literally being washed out and destroyed. Hopefully it's out of here by noon, and as it continues north just rains itself out, so those north should get wet but it's losing it's energy.

I 95 has been closed in two places and I40 going into Wilmington is closed. If your traveling thru anywhere thru the Carolinas, check road conditions there's hundreds of roads closed from flooding or just flat out washed out and destroyed.

The weather channels can be very general, but it's getting some steering help and should be out. The local guys are busy standing in puddles next to a downed tree to give much info, even if that downed tree is the only one within miles. Then there's the guy being interviewed wearing his confederate flag bathing suit big beer gut no shirt with a Bud Light in his hand explaining the pandolerium. The Weather Channel is powered right now by the National Hurricane Center so it's current and useful. Safe travels to anyone out in this mess, the river systems are what's causing most of the problems right now.
