$3.70 a bottle, so marked up to $7-10 makes sense. Those places marking it up to $15, though, are really fuckin ya. Dont blame SA for this at all - totally bars just taking advantage of the hype on this one.

Retail MARGIN is typically ~30% on craft beer. Don't mistake margin for markup though.

If the beer costs $3.71 a bottle, then a 30% markup would yield a price of $4.82.

If the beer costs $3.71 a bottle, then a 30% margin would yield a price of $5.30.

Since all of the places that got this beer are "on premise", most of their margins are much higher than retail shops, so those on premise locations charging $7-10 a bottle is simply what they're used to.

Happy to have found some of it, and yes, it's deliciously awesome. Reminds me of Real Ale Bourbon Barrel 15th anniversary, and also BCS, but with a slightly thinner body. Smells and tastes amazing regardless.

Actually there were 3 unhappy people there. My wife wasn't too thrilled about standing in line to get me beer. Lol

She was number 10 I believe. I owe her.

FWIW, per St A's website, BB #1 is 12% after barreling. Apologies if its already been mentioned, I don't think it has and I'm too tired to sift through 13 pages.

Mind sharing your "honey hole" with the rest of us, Chad? ...assuming it's still available(which I'd doubt is) and it was take home.

Black Star Co-op has a 1 bottle limit per person. Our license allows you to take it unopened if you wish. We will be cellaring a good amount of our allotment because I think it will be MUCH better in 6-12 months. Cheers!

I've see their barrel aging room, that's huge and there was plenty of different beers in them when I went and saw. Supply and demand.

That was her. She said she drove by and saw only 6 people in line and went to run an errand an came back. If I had known she left I wouldn't have been happy. lol But it worked out alright. I told her she didn't have to wait if there was more than 12 people - maybe she was hoping it would fill up by the time she got back.

I dont want to bad mouth st. arnolds, but I wouldent go out of my way for this beer.

    Id rather have fresh endevour.

Understandable... having had it myself now.. I would and did go out of my way to get some.. and I love it.... didn't feel thin to me at all.. but truly.. I really care about taste way more than feel.. which I really never care to think about... feelings... sounds like a cheesy song from the 70's..

This was my thought. If it's going to be a big beer, it needs some damn presence. I would say at 12%, I would want just below chocolate syrup.
