I'll keep my snide remarks to myself.

It's a shame. Can't say they were a favorite of mine, but there was enough decent ales on tap at the Battle Creek location to stop in after spending the day at the zoo. Food was good, too. 'Course, that location closed a while ago and I don't think I've had and Arcadia since.

Wow, $1,409,677 !!! The question is how far are they behind, and could a cash infusion save them?

For those of us who only know of Arcadia from their nationally distributed beers (I was a fan of Cereal Killer), and know nothing of their local presence, what was the knock on them?

From the letter posted on the Arcadia website it appears they are looking for a "strategic partner". I wonder if ABV would be interested in buying them? Or maybe ABV is fully occupied after their recent acquisition of Sixpoint?

    Cheers!

If you read through the thread @Punisher1976 posted, you'll see that they had a series of issues with infections with their barrel aged stuff and in response put up a lot of excuses and BS answers. My personal interactions with their brewery turned me off forever. Frankly, they may be looking for an infusion of cash, but an infusion of cash isn't going to fix their quality issues or their poor customer service.

Better/more useful info than the news source. Thanks!

Looks like the slowing of the rising tide is climing another of its early victims, with more on the horizon.

I’d guess too big a bite at this time.

I wish I didn't post that thread that turned quickly into a shitshow. Was green on the site and didn't realize things would get stirred up so much. They were likely already struggling financially and panicked when they released what should be a money maker that didn't come out right.

I understand others may not feel bad, but I feel partially responsible for their fallen reputation on this site when that wasn't what I intended.

Compared to other threads regarding infections that one was pretty tame. Frankly I wouldn't feel bad. 1) You aren't the reason they are 1.4 million dollars in debt and 2) regardless if they're in debt or not, they release a bad product and then deny it, they will reap the consequences. Reputation is the most valuable thing a brewery has and once its damaged its incredibly hard to recover that. And finally, no offense, but I doubt a 3-page thread on BA has the reach to cause a widespread hit to their reputation.

Oh, I agree totally. I didn't think my thread took them down or anything. I just think of their workers (other than the idiot that was at the keyboard for their HR). I don't feel good that the thread resulted in a few people totally avoiding them, though it was mostly their own doing in the reasoning of their response.

I appreciate your response though, it does make me feel a bit better about it. Ultimately, it is their responsibility to put forward a good product and customer service as you said.

Bad beer that existed because it came out early in the rush and was produced in a relatively empty market. Not a loss to the world of beer. Might even be a benefit because it might make other brewers step their game up/potential brewers get their act really together before launching

They’ve been around a long time and despite missteps, it sucks to see a stalwart bite the dust. I seriously doubt that their financial troubles have anything to do with contaminated batches of barrel aged beers that equal <1% of total volume.
It’s the changing nature of craft beer, especially in an over-saturated state like MI.

So many old heads running these businesses like it’s still 2000 and god bless their souls, but sadly, if a Scottish Ale, and West Coast IPAs account for over half of your daily lineup in 2018, your days are numbered.

Adapt or die. The road for large and regional breweries is not easy and there is no map, but the ones that seem to consistently knock it out of the park (Sierra, Stone, Dogfish, Three Floyd’s, etc) are constantly trying new things. Creating AND following trends, and refusing to play is safe.
...oh, and they also have impeccable attention to QC and consistency.

They just voted legal weed in Michigan which starts today so i'm sure that's going to do more damage.

To what, the munchie supply? The smokers I know that enjoy beer, already enjoy both.
