Phil (Retail shop manager from HFS, for those who don't know) said on another site that duplicate entries will be disqualified.

How Universe vets duplicate common names like Mike Smith I did not really look into. I am assuming they do something with IP address. Obviously work arounds, as with any system. But I entered my name for each day, and I entered it once. My name is not common and I don't want to risk DQ.

I also figured i'd register to the Universe site and add my name and address. Just in case they do get spammed with 1000's of duplicated and go the registered account route, which IMO they should have done in the first place, as it requires an address, which matches my photo ID.

 

So just to be clear, everyone has been debating HF's lotto policies for like three pages, and no one knows what those policies actually are? Do I have that correct?

 

If it makes any of you feel any better, I just checked, and the top 10 most common last names (including Smith) make up about 4% of the US population. Out of those, how many do you think also share the same first name? And what percentage of those people are big enough d-bags to try and cheat at a beer lottery? I think it’s highly unlikely this presents a serious obstacle to anyone’s lottery odds.

You’re also assuming that Hill Farmstead won’t kick out all the Mike Smiths using different email addresses, but I wouldn’t assume that at all. It’s just as likely that they see multiple emails from the same name and boot them all. So maybe it’s the Mike Smiths of the world who have more to be upset about here.

Or maybe none of us do and this is all fine.

 

And yet, you're here, with the rest of us, on possibly the geekiest beer enthusiasm forum on the net, posting multiple times trying to convince us and yourself that beer isn't an important factor in your life.

How much time have you spent just here, reading posts you genuinely seem to dislike, trying to convince the posters of those posts that you don't like to be less unlikable?

My favorite part about craft beer is how it truly brings the people together.

 

Some of these Waiting In Line Enthusiasts would never see their grandma if it weren't for craft beer and muling.

 

To get somewhat back to beer.

I had a great time yesterday. It was a beautiful day, the crowd was very light and there were some great options for onsite and retail purchases.

I shared a few bottles with @SkiBum22 and I had a bunch of nice conversations with other customers. The staff was pleasant as always and the Anne Yellow Raspberry was fantastic.

I was there for a few hours and didn't wait in a line for more than a few minutes for a onsite beer or retail purchase.

Haha, fair enough. Perhaps I should have been more clear. Beer is important in that I enjoy drinking it, sharing with friends, visiting breweries, going to events and reading and conversing about it. It is not important enough that I am willing to get upset or stressed if I do not make an event, release or win a lottery. If I'm not having fun then I'm not doing it right.

I don’t need the drama either. Matter of fact, I’m in a couple Facebook beer groups and there’s a couple know it alls in there, so I did the mature thing and blocked them. No one needs that kind of guff.

• Mike Smith is worried that he may get confused with another Mike Smith.
• Rabid speculation about how they may or may not weed out multiple entries.
• Bitching about the cost per oz of a beer that if someone really didn't care about they wouldn't waste the time or energy to calculate cost per oz.
• Terribly annoying poster channeling the utmost of irony by insulting new members, such as myself, and asking me to stop spamming.

For anyone coming up today, it is currently nuking snow in Central/ North Central VT. We were supposed to get a rain mix, but it looks like all snow. 89 is closed at various points due to accidents. Drive safe.
