Ale Jail had Waldo per Twitter on Wednesday. Wasn't able to get there before it closed last night so I called around half a dozen places in Saint Paul. Most didn't have it or were getting it next week (!) I got my 6 pack at International Wine in Highland. They also had BA Darkness for $22.99

Waldo's at south lyndale. Also, indeed hop dab, which is surprisingly good.

Seconded the Indeed Hop Dab, I really enjoyed it as a nice break from all of the hazy, sweet, NE-style IPAs.

Going to be in St Paul area for a few days this weekend. Any suggestions on craft beer bars, bottle shops or breweries to hit?

4 packs of GNug from January at Top Ten Chan for $6. I think it still tastes pretty good. I was told that TG is discontinuing GNug, not sure if that's true.

I'm pretty sure someone at TG during MD day told me they were just re-branding it.

Sucaba is out, very malt forward.

On the topic of bourbon barrel barleywine, indeed old breed is also in stores. It is half the price of sucaba, but also half as good. If you feel like giving it a shot anyway, they had plenty at Bloomington total wine.

I thought Old Breed was pretty solid, though certainly not exceptional. I wasn't a huge fan of last year's Sucaba (at least not for the price), but I haven't tried this year's. Someone last week posted about Straight Jacket cans being available over in Hudson...I think SJ is miles ahead of either of these other two.

Another opinion of Old Breed as "solid". However, as someone who's been wrecking his liver with Central Waters BA Barleywine a week for years, it's tough to break into that rotation. Somewhere I saw a reference to it as a "summer barleywine" which sounds right - it's lighter in mouthfeel & barrel than most of the genre. Worth a go.

Straight jacket is my favorite of the four (SJ, sucaba, central waters, old breed, in that order), but sucaba is a very close second. 2019 is my first taste of all but central waters.

Yeah, along with what others have said I found Sucaba underwhelming. Great beer but not for $10.99 a bottle.

Parabola also seems to be hitting local shelves this week.

Any more sightings of Firestone Walker Parabola or Sucaba in the NW, N or Centeral Metro?
