Awhile back I got an Uber fresh Blazing World from Modern Times from their brewery and it was amazing! I already love the beer but I was getting additional hop flavors and aromas that I normally don’t pickup. Just now I picked up a super fresh six pack of Saint Archers IPA, which you can agree or disagree on the merits of the beer but due to specific circumstances I ended up with a six pack. It’s by far the best saint archer i’ve Had. The hop
Aroma and flavor is so fresh and vibrant, it’s like a fresh bag of hops from my homebrew shop.

What beer/s have you had previously that you thought was ok, good or really good until you had fresh and it took a leap forward in your opinion once you had it fresh?

While, my examples are ipas/hops related. I know many beers are impacted from freshness.

Deschutes Fresh Squeezed. If you drink it when really fresh the beer is amazing. Then drink old and well no so much.
Fresh is best, why I always harp for dates lol. Just tastes better when new.
    Cheers

Paulaner Original on draught is a revelation. Beats the hell out of old bottles.

My bucket list is to try my favorite imports fresh on location. Would love to try paulaner original fresh. I already like the beer and I am sure it’s 2/3 if what it should be.

I guess that’s why they call it fresh squeezed.

I actually got to try it fresh at deschutes a couple years ago during a summer vacation to bend, OR. It was fabulous. I always liked the beer but thought it was a bit too malt forward. Fresh the hops shine over the malt.

Fresh Ruination 2.0 is noticeably better than at 4-6 weeks. Same for Alpine Duet..

funnily enough, I find coffee stouts packaged fresh or draft from the source are infinitesimally better. Some instances I’ve been totally floored by the difference. I guess the volatile oils in roasted coffee beans have a similar lifespan as hops in terms of flavor.

Came here to say Founders Breakfast Stout is decisively better when it's fresh. And it falls off rather quickly for a stout. Maybe 3 months?

    Looks like @mambossa would agree.

From MT both Blazing World and Aurora (RIP) are out (Fn) standing when hyper fresh, and I get far more dimension from Fortunate Island when its less than 3 weeks old. A couple others that have added dimension for my palate and preferences when super fresh are Fall River Hexegenia and Block 15 Stick Hands (though this one falls off slower).

Yessir! from Community Beer Co. might be the best grapefruit bomb I've ever had. I got a half-growler from a well-respected beer bar having no expectations and was blown away.

And Shakesbeer, a bitter served at The Garrick in Stratford-upon-Avon. I had tried 12-15 different cask ales over the week before running into Shakesbeer, which I didn't even want to try because what a stupid name.:crazy_face: But without question Shakesbeer was the No. 1 cask ale I tried during that vacation, and I'm sure part of it was the freshness of that particular cask ... it almost crunched with crispness and had that perfect punch of earthy bitterness. Had to be fresh, like inside 24 hours fresh.

Pizza Boy Sunny Side Up while fresh is amazing. Once it hits about the 2- month mark, I notice the coffee in it starts to become bitter.

Probably the German imports... The Kölsch in Cologne and the big names in Munich (Paulaner, Ayinger, Augustiner, Weihenstephaner, etc...).

I've been lucky to find some examples fresh enough to be close, but drinking them on site was next level.

Most of the ipas I buy are around 2-3 weeks for the most part, they’re primarily local beers, the exception is Two Hearted.

I’ll agree with the above about Fresh Squeezed, we get it here but its forever 7-8 months old and I won’t buy it. But I have had it on tap in WA and it’s a completely different beer. I’ll also add Highlands ipa here too, it’s from Highland in Asheville I think, I get it on tap and it’s really a tremendous ipa. In cans it’s meh, if it’s 4-5 weeks old, those few weeks difference is simply amazing.

Jai Alai falls off quickly. Nugget Nectar isn't bad after a month or so but a different beer when fresh.

I live in Southern California so I don’t get Hexegenia. I visit my friend in Nor Cal occasionally and I had the same experience with Hexegenia. First time I had it I thought it was meh. This year visiting my buddy he had a fresh four pack. It was almost like a different beer. Classic west coast IPA and the hops were popping. After my first few sips we both commented on how it was hitting the WCIPA profile perfectly.

Drinking Sam Adams Boston Lager at the brewery was eye-opening for me. I never got the same hoppy snap from a Boston Lager prior to or after that experience.

Once decided -- after having passed through so many times on the way from Bamberg to Prague -- to make an overnight stop in Pilsen. The first place my buddy and I went to after checking into our hotel was a tiny beer garden just downriver from the Urquell brewery. This was 1994, so before they had made the switch to a simpler yeast strain and begun lagering in steel. The first sip of that super-fresh Urquell while looking upstream toward the source was as good a beer experience as I've ever had. The 6 or so additional half liters weren't too shabby either.
