I had what I thought was a good idea in getting to 189 of asking the Mods to merge the OH Rochester thread with this one. But I see they are still on page #1 there. Maybe the focus should be on getting them to page #2 instead of getting this thread to #189? Doing my part either way.

 

yeah... one of them showing the can propped up on the inside dashboard of his car. Not only does MD get the OH before ya, but they show off their egregious disdain for driving sober as well. Bastards.

 

We get your Saturday releases on Thursday, and I'm pretty sure they brought down Velvet and Double Drupe bottles that were "sold out". Seems a little nuts but it's definitely worked to drum up hype around the Dmv

 

I honestly don't get this, are they trying to build an audience in Maryland for the new spot before it opens? I don't think that's particularly necessary given their reputation. Like I don't begrudge you guys getting stuff but it seems like its at the expense of fans in Brooklyn, who spend way more money cause of taproom sales.

 

Let’s be honest. Brooklyn will sell out regardless if they release first in Rochester, DC, or any other location they decide to take on. They have a loyal fanbase that will max out on whatever ipa they brew here. Trying to enter a new market will get priority and it makes sense until their cash cow location starts declining, which will not happen anytime soon.

 

They lose money on distroing though, no? They can't sell something like BA Double Drupe to liquor stores for $24 a bottle.

 

@Feaor, have you checked out the DMV beer scene lately? They really do need some OH in their lives. I was there this summer and, incidentally, made my way to Crown as the friends putting me up lived nearby. I tried some local wares. I can't remember any of them. They were that good.

But also, it's waaaaaaaay further from the District than it looks on maps. I mean, fuck, if they want good beer it's that spot or bust! We got so much beer here we argue about the definition of beer! They're down there like, "please sir, may I have another?"

Anyway I really came on here to admit, shamefully, that I'm just now cracking into the last batch of Forever Simcoe (count myself among its diehard fans; better than ACE? I'm willing to entertain it!). And it's amazing. It's one of those moments that reminds you why people go nuts and max out on allotments when they're lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.

Oh and one more thing- is this really the most active/posted on brewery thread? Out of curiosity I poked around other regions and the next closest seems to be Tree House @ 129 pages, but it seems to drop off pretty sharply after that (like, fewer than 100 pages).

Had my last can of All Riwaka Everything last night, and this is up there with some of OH's best IMO...

 

I’m a lot more ok with these MD drops than I am with Rochester getting beer I want.
