Does anyone who has been to a public brew day before have recommendations for what time/which part of the process to get a ticket for?

Is the brewery absolutely packed on the public brew day? Any thing else to know about the public brew day vs a normal visit?

It was very quiet this week, but I would show up at opening. They won't let you see the coolship once it has been filled (of course).

Just show up and purchase a tour ticket. 7 EUR.

You should have hung out for a bit. We were there on the 23rd and just as you said no 50N or Brabantiae but after touring and then drinking a bottle of chenin blanc they put them back up.

As Duvel lovers, we are going to Cantillon's open brew day on march 14th. We see it as a fun day out in Brussels. Anything I NEED to buy? I mean, is there something I should keep an eye out for?

Any Cantillon beer is something to keep an eye out for! Most people seem to value their seasonals more than their regulars but I promise you their regulars are some of the best quality of each type you can get.

I will be visiting for the first time next Friday, February 28. Three questions:
    • Do they frequently change the to-go bottles? If so, do 'special' ones go fast and I should just get there early or will they last until early afternoon (around 1-2PM)?
    • I'm coming from the US. I heard they will help ship bottles for you. Do they still do this and what is the cost on average?
    • Is the advanced booked 1.5hr tour worth it if I've been on a million other tours (none lambic based breweries though)?
Sorry if any of these are dumb questions. Newbie here

As far as availability of "special" ones, I can say the following. Phoned up today at 12 noon to ask for St lamvinus and Vigneronne.
A friendly lady on the phone said, yes they are here to take. Took my car, drove to the brewery, was there by 2 in the afternoon to hear, 'sorry there is no more Vigneronne'. The at Lamvinus was limited to 1 bottle.
So, I would say, never mind what time you come, you are in for a surprise what's on the board.

The to-go board can change a few times daily. It’s always a surprise. When I visited 3 weeks ago, the Brabantiae was on the board to go at opening and after I finished the tour it was removed. Obviously I suspected this would be the case and bought my allowance before I started the tour, so my recommendation is take whatever is available at the time you visit because it might not be there a few hours later. With this in mind, before you leave the brewery, have a look on the board again because they might have put something on it that was not there at opening. Having said that, even if there’s no seasonal on board, their regulars are among the best of their respective styles worldwide. You can’t leave Cantillon unhappy even if you only manage to take their regulars. Also note that their regulars have much higher allowance limits (see the photo I posted above)

The tour is worth it if you haven’t done any lambic brewery tours before. I’ve done it twice myself.

As far as the shipping goes, I have no idea. I always purchase a 20kgs bag on the airline I travel and bring them back myself. I remember seeing a post on the old thread that mentioned something about a service for shipping it back home. I’m sure someone will give you all the details you need in one of the next few posts.

Enjoy and let us know how it goes

Recently booked tickets for the public brew day on March 14. Will be my first visit to Cantillon (and Brussels). Can't wait! Does anyone know if, on the public brew day, are they open like normal for on-site tasting? Can I arrive early or stay after my tour to enjoy a couple of drinks?

No idea, but if you're there wear a red rose so I can recognise you. :-) (and bring a US Duvel glass for my collection) :-)))

They are open like normal for on site tasting during the open brew day. I made it to open bref day last november i might have spent 6 or 7hrs straight on site as they added a load of pretty bottles for on site enjoyment for that day only(eg Lou Pépé Kriek 2013, 2014 and 2016, or Nuit Bruxelloise 2015..)

Btw i will be wearing a yellow coat and a red cap, if you want to split some bottles on march 14, find me
