They get PTY in Philadelphia - sounds like a much less painful experience to go there.

Dang! Didn't know PtY made it out of California. I rarely ever saw PtE when I lived in LA and OC. Another reason to love Philadelphia!

I'm from Pittsburgh - but I know for a fact that Monk's Cafe has their PTY charity release on President's Day:

I can't make it this year, unfortunately. They killed me putting it on a Monday - a Saturday like last year, and I was making the drive.

Dang, Monk's has to be one of the best beer bars in the country. Right up there with City Beer Store in San Francisco.

I just waited zero minutes for a pour of Pliny the Younger. Pretty fantastic use of my time I gotta say!

    You’re awesome!! Congrats!!
But in all honestly it should be that way but unfortunately it’s not always that easy. Was literally going to sf toronado and the line was like a 1/2 a block down the street maybe 30-40 people at 11:30am. Not sure how long that was going to take so I passed as toronado will have some almost every day till next Thursday I believe. Holy water had it as well today at $9 for 6oz pour, sold out already and they opened at 4pm. The only thing I can say was I was able to enjoy my $6 10oz pours at my leisure at RRB. To each there own but I get it, your time usage was fantastic.
Btw how was pliny? Have you had it before and how did it compare?

First time I tried it. It was really solid but definitely not something I'd wait around for, just a really good, crisp TIPA. I think it was $8 or 9 for 9oz, not really all that busy so I doubt it gets kicked tonight. I'm in LA though.

30 - 40 people @ Toronado takes about 10 minutes to get a pour. That's actually on the shorter side.

I didn’t want to take the chance of just waiting around. I know they already have pty already poured and ready to hand out. last year the times I went it was only like 10-15 people waiting.

Doesn't Toronado do a 6oz pour and charge something close to $15???

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Vinnie loves a shit show. Being from out of town, we just didn’t have anything else to do that didn’t involve a decent
Pretty sure Vinnie has many other things to do than start a "shit show" or get attention for himself, the brewery, or this beer.

I’m line here at 9am at Windsor. Vinnie is going down the line shaking hands and chatting with everyone. He’s lovin’ it.

When anyone asked the staff why they don't just let everyone into the Santa Rosa location to maximize capacity immediately, thereby reducing the line, the response was that the bottleneck for the process is that they don't want to overwhelm their staff inside, particularly the kitchen. They said that they've learned from past experience that if they maximize the capacity, all that happens is that people seated inside just grow frustrated with how long service takes. So their solution is to gradually allow the location to reach capacity, so that their staff can provide better service to the people who are seated.

On Friday, there were a few people who walked in, grabbed their beer, and immediately left (usually because they had other commitments), but the majority grabbed a seat to have a few beers and some food. The staff said that most people usually leave well before the 3-hour time limit.

How is the to-go line in Santa Rosa? I'm to send my wife up on a weekday to grab a couple of bottles to go

There is no to go line, only 1 line. However I’ve been reading Santa Rosa has been faster to get into. Almost better off going later like 7/8pm but who really knows.

Same shit happened to me, I arrived at 9:30 on Monday and just missed the first wave. That A frame that says 2-3 hour wait isn’t a lie. It was easy going right up to the point where they give you the wrist bands and bam we got shut out. They come around and take down your group size and occasionally ask if there are single people waiting. If you’re by yourself speak up loud and you may get lucky and get in quicker. Smaller group sizes get in a little quicker.
