First it was pretzel necklaces, then antacid necklaces. An insulin pump seems overkill for the occasional festival or bottle share, so who will find a better solution for the pastry stout fan on the go?

That's like saying a bag of pretzels or a roll of antacids in your pocket is good enough. Where's the decorative flair?

The last round of Deschutes labels were panned pretty quick, so it looks like the next refresh is coming pretty quick. I really like them.

I don’t understand what they were thinking with the rebrand. Glad they figured out how stupid it was.

Since there isn’t a Block 15 thread anymore.

Saraveza is having a Block 15 takeover. Looks like all 3 variants of this years Super Nebula are on draft, along with some BBA sours, and Dab Lab.

It's different every day I think. When we stopped by today, they were just pouring the cherry chocolate and breakfast with the turkey. You could get bottles of the regular SN, breakfast with the turkey and the 2016 breakfast with the buffalo, and the raspberry, vanilla, chocolate version. Everything we tried was pretty good, but truth be told, the ba stouts we're trying now at Ft. George are better. Really liking the Supper club and whale shark.

Here’s my guess: “Oh crap, sales are slipping! What do millennials like? Random shit, like parrots with biceps, patronus charms, and scuba divers in Mirror Pond? Great, give ‘em that. What do you mean they only want hard seltzers? OK, back to the people who bought our core beers through the proliferation of breweries/flavors of the month. Any of those guys left?”

The award ceremony for the Oregon Beer Awards was last night, winners here: https://www.newschoolbeer.com/2020/02/oregon-beer-awards-2020-winners-and-ceremony-recap.html

No surprise that Breakside, 10 Barrel, pFriem, and Sunriver continued their strong competition performances. Other impressive showings were by Von Ebert, Culmination, Baerlic, and Stormbreaker, winning 4 medals each.

Central Oregon cleaned up pretty well: Immersion Brewing won Small Brewery of the Year (go Chris!) for their 2 medals and Boss Rambler won Best New Brewery. Worthy, Deschutes, Crux, Boneyard, Ale Apothecary, Bend Brewing, and Silver Moon all won medals too.

The show is livestreamed; way more interesting than the Oscars to me, and it's clear the night is just as much about getting the industry together from around the state to party as it is handing out awards. Some presenters have clearly been enjoying themselves backstage, some Brewers are less than gifted speechmakers, but the looser vibe feels more authentic and I enjoy watching those I consider friend getting recognized by their peers.

That label was horrible. What the fuck were they thinking.

I didn't drink the label. I thought Jubelale the beer was quite good.

LOL! That's always my take as well.

There's a lot of interesting label artwork out there these days, some of which I think is pretty interesting or clever, and some I think is pretty awful or ugly. However, the quality of the artwork isn't something that ever has any bearing on my decision to buy or drink a particular beer. Sometimes I'll buy a "new to me" beer if I think the name is really clever, but I can't ever recall being influenced by the quality of the artwork when it comes to buying a beer.

I assume I/we may be in the minority when it comes to this.

I did think the new label jubelale was kind of ugly, but the beer tasted the same as always. So I continue to buy it on occasion.

For that one, they commission a different artist each year. Regardless of whether or not I’m fond of the design, at least I know it’s not part of an ad agency’s pitch.

Don't see cantillon on tap much in PDX, so thought I would mention that Belmont Station currently has the Cantillon lambic D'aunis on tap. $6.50 for a 4 ounce pour.

I think that's a pretty solid price for that pour, wow.

Based on your Avatar, I assume you know a thing or two about Cantillon stuff. How sour and funky is the D'aunis? I like trying new things and am tempted to get a glass, but only if the sour quotient isn't too over the top. What do you think?
