In 2016, the lottery hit the $1 billion jackpot and my avatar is a pic of a bag full of lottery tickets.

Just changed mine to Blue headed Vireo, but you can't see it very well so I may change to White Eyed Vireo.

I had to pick a new avatar because of that night. After using your avatar, I couldn't find my old one again. I think I deleted the photo. It was very sad. So I had to change.

    You suck, Mantooth.

Hope you and the family are doing well.

People's avatars have no affect on my likes or dislikes. As far as mine goes, I like to change it up occasionally. I went with Ermey for a long time but felt like shaking it up. So now it's me doing what I love. There's something kind of art deco about that Danelectro guitar that I love.

My grandparents lived in Casa Grande for a few (10?) years, til the dust got to him. My brother & I went to visit them for about a month, along with other relatives, in SW Colorado, & near Tuscon. I remember being thrilled with so many hummingbirds, especially given the overall sparseness of it all. I walked the West Rim (18mi?) of the Grand Canyon, & hummingbirds were a constant companion.
There's about 15 White-Throated Sparrows around my house, with both color forms in about equal measure, so you're welcome to come sit ,watch, & have a beer or 5, anytime.:beers: There's a bunch of different ones at any given time, probably because of the hedgerow of Gray Dogwood out back, the woods across the road, & proximity to the river (1/2 mi?) . It's my cheap entertainment. Last November, some Yellow-Rumped Warblers & Orange-Crowned Warblers stopped for a few days. :+1:
I've heard of a leucistic (but not albino) Red-Tailed Hawk nesting about a mile down the road, but haven't seen it (yet) .

Ah, that’s cool. I lived in Chandler and Tucson, roughly 2 years each. I can’t wait to go back someday, I didn’t do as much birding as I should’ve. I took a lot of the local species there for granted a bit (cactus wren, gila woodpeckers, etc), it’d be a thrill to return.

Sounds like you have a hell of a spot. I haven’t birdied Upstate NY as much as I should...last time I went camping up near Red Hook I saw a ton of cedar waxwings, belted kingfishers by a stream. It was great. :beers:

Your current avatar looks exactly like a kid I went to high school with almost 50 years ago. Chester Mullins, fairly cool dude for his time.

I like beer and Jeeps. I could be wrong, but I think this is basically the only avatar I've used since I joined BA and I use it everywhere beer-related. I found it on the interwebs back then but not sure where it originally came from. I like how simple it is and I can't imagine ever wanting to change it (my handle on the other hand, yeesh--I'm at least a BeerIdiotSavant by now).

I also own a couple shirts with the logo on them that I sometimes like to wear to beer events to make it easier to meet up with other BAs.

The real me behind those cheap sunglasses. The mustache has been pared back though. I like putting a face to a name on this site.

I've had the same avatar here (and frankly most sites I'm on, even LinkedIn) since forever.
Don't post a lot here (mainly NE section) but it's a great way to "recognize" people.
I'm sort of a skimmer in general and visuals help.

I never really change mine. I only changed it in 2016 when the Sharks went to the Stanley Cup Finals. I don't think it really affects interactions.

My avatar is me which I suppose is indicative of either a lack of imagination or a lack of concern and I really don't care which. I have been told I speak like I look and do like the idea that when here I'm taking part in conversation.

I don't think my avatar really has much impact on interactions per se - here on BA, it seems most folks are reacting to the beer posted, and any tunes, video, or commentary included - although some will like a post if they know the poster, so my readily recognizable avatar may generate a favorable response, even if my content didn't really inspire... lol

The old avatar, username, and beer pet peeves threads are all closed now :slight_frown: - hope they don't squash the show yourself thread...

I see some folks are using this thread to explain their avatar, so I'll do that, too:

I've used the greywulfken moniker and my avatar ever since I had a personal computer and an email account, so it's been mine for well over 20 years - just seemed an image of a grey wolf was a logical choice - and that flat expression of vague disdain/disappointment is very aligned with my worldview lol...

The username Greywulfken goes way back to my D&D days :grimacing: - stemming from my love of animals - particularly predators - wolves among them (and the Marvel character, Wolverine :sunglasses:) - and the color grey is very neutral and noncommittal - so I feel a kinship (stylized as, "ken") to all o' that, so... There you have it, BA - my internet moniker and avatar biopic...

    Cheers...

I used to use one of my kids, then changed it to the picture of a puffer fish I took while snorkeling. I think I get fewer responses since I switched. It's fine though, I like the creepy smiley fish.
