Ok folks in the area, what’s new, what’s good, and what’s flying under the radar that deserves some love?

Urban roots might have been my favorite new to me brewery of 2019. Great examples across styles and a west coast IPA ( like riding a bike) that I could drink all day

There is no one that posts about Sacramento much anymore here. 2 months and not a peep so far. Almost everyone in Sac has moved to local Facebook or IG and away from Beer Advocate..

There are already 2020 Brewery threads for Urban Roots, Slice, Moksa and Moonraker here in the Pacific Forum. So we have the top Sac breweries covered.

    Urban Roots: https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/urban-roots-2020.630618/
    Slice: https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/slice-beer-co-lincoln-ca-2020.630731/
    Moksa: https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/moksa-brewing-rocklin-ca-2020.632672/
    Moonraker: https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/moonraker-2020.632561/

Maybe some of the other 60 Sacramento Area Breweries can be discussed here. New Glory, Device, Auburn Alehouse, Bike Dog, Burning Barrel, Clainstake, Flatland, Knee Deep, King Kong, Monk's Cellar, Mraz, Out of Bounds, Red Bus, Track 7, ect....

Yeah saw that. I meant to drop in Friday but that huge accident on 80 earlier that day messed up my schedule. I hope there's some left. I grew up in Colorado, and while I moved to NorCal after WW opened, I've been dying to try some.

Think Juicy Bits cans are gone, but still some New Hops, Who Dis?

Different note, they were still pouring earlier today their half keg of PtY they tapped yesterday.

...but I’m really just interested in what’s in Sacras, and aside from the aforementioned Urban Root thread that you noted hadn’t really seen much chatter...

Also as I mentioned earlier, most in the City of Sacramento have abandoned "Old School" forums like Beer Advocate and moved onto social media (FB and IG) platforms to talk Sacramento beer.

If you want more people, everyday posting, Sac Beer talk and brewery reviews....it is at the links below... Usual warnings go with any Facebook group....lol!!!

Not sure if this is the most appropriate thread for it but during this time of quarantine...
    • I'd really like to hear more about what beer has been poppin' in the Greater Sac area.
Everyone's talking about Monkish, HPB, Casa Agria, Cellarmaker and Sante Adairius. But...

The Slice thread has a couple of posts here and there (and wow, their latest can release sold out ASAP!) Urban Roots is still selling, albeit pick-up only. Moonraker has been churning out beers still, including the almighty The Holy Hermit.

I know some of these breweries ship, and I was lucky enough to get one order of Moksa in when they had two Imperial Stouts available for crowler fills. If my fridge weren't full already, I would have jumped on their yesterday can release which sold out in an hour or so.

What have been some of the cool things coming out of your region?

We were at Grocery Outlet (San Jose) today and they had a fair amount of Bike Dog and Jackrabbit. From Bike Dog they had many IPA/DIPA 4 packs and from Jackrabbit they had a maple brown 4 pack, abbey style ale and brown bombers, and some others.

I’m kind of maxed out on beer atm but we haven’t had West Sac beer in awhile so I picked up a 4-pack of Bike Dog Haze Riot 8.8% NE DIPA for $13.99 which turned out to be a very respectable find. A tad sweet but incredibly juicy with a strong jasmine aroma. I’d look for this one again.

Do you know if either of these groups promote beer "trading" in Sacramento - say for example, I were to take a trip to Russian River and come back to town with a bunch of Pliny 4 President, I could then offload some of it on local beer drinkers? I'm not on Facebook, but wondering if I should create an account to take advantage of these groups. Thanks.

Why not post in the Pacific trading forum on here? You might be able to offload some of that on me!

Yes. There are specific Sacramento Facebook "Trading" Groups. SBE and SBG are not really for trading. There is also a specific Moksa trading group on FB. There is also Instagram.

But, Not sure how much demand there would be for Russian River? Pretty widely available in Sac. P4Pres was also available for shipping via online (RR releasing beer for shipping in California only). YMMV.

Like mentioned above by FLbeerguy, plenty of trading here at Beer Advocate as well.

Shipping was available for p4p but I’m sure people didn’t want to get 16-24 unless they spilt it with someone else. P4P is available on draft to go in some places but pretty sure having extra cans ft would be easy to move IP.

Yes, this is what I was thinking. A lot of non-local breweries shipping now require cases and shipping can be costly, so would be nice to get a shipment and then share it with other local to Sacramento. Say, for example, if I was lucky enough to land a Monkish shipment, that would be a lot of beer for one person to drink while still fresh.
