    That is the beer I was thinking of as well. I thought it was great. Explicitly I thought;
and perhaps my quest for a neipa that tastes like a spring forest smells will.be all the motivation I need

@JackHorzempa was this at Wegmans? If so it will be in the singles section very soon I am sure and maybe I'll give it a shot.

And I also had the Bells beer mentioned above and it was decent, definitely enjoyed drinking the single that I had picked up.

Certainly will be on the lookout for this, I’ve been wanting a German IPA since Bells’ Leaves of Grass series.

On a related note, I’m somewhat concerned about DB’s recent portfolio, they’ve recently been pushing their new IPAs over their lagers.

@JackHorzempa, in response to your question on a different thread, I haven't see this Bavarian IPA over here. But there have been a couple of different "Bavarian" and "German" IPAs in the past years:
Riedenburger Dolden Sud Bavarian IPA is pretty easy to get over here, especially in Organic food markets. I don't remember why it is specifically "Bavarian"... but it is decently good, when you can find it fresh, which is unfortunately not that often.
Camba Bavaria made a "German" IPA that they marketed as dry-hopped exclusively with Hercules (a German hop). It was OK, nothing terribly impressive. I haven't seen it in a few years, and it isn't on their website anymore.
BRLO also makes a "German" IPA that I can get at my local supermarket. Same concept of using only German hops, in this case Polaris, Comet, and Hüll Melon. I quite like this one, bit of dank pine, but also some peppermint and melon notes. I buy one every now and then, but always tend to forget how solid it is.

Not an "IPA", but rather a Bavarian Pale Ale from FrauGruber. I'm not sure why this is specifically "Bavarian", though. I'm a huge FrauGruber fan, but this was a disappointing beer. Quite grassy, like unripe fruit, which is not my type of pale ale.

There have been a few other non-IPA beers over the last years where German breweries highlight new German hops: Veldensteiner Mandarina Bavaria Weissbier; Palmbräu Unser Leichtes (low alcohol weizen dry-hopped with Mandarina Bavaria); Welde 1250 Jubiläumsbier 2016 (Bock dry-hopped with Hull Melon) etc... As with most one-off beers, these tend to be hit or miss.

Interesting, I did not get an alert for the tag from the original posting. On topic: If anything, it should be German IPA, not Bavarian IPA, which is pretty ridiculous. German IPA has indeed been a suggested style in the style update thread, but personally I think that it's rather redundant and also a slippery slope.

If we start recognizing every IPA from every region that grows hops then we would soon have to have English, American, German, French, African, Czech, New Zealand, Australian and plenty of other Pale Ales, IPAs and Double IPAs and nobody wants that. I dare say that it could even be argued that the distinction between English and American IPA isn't strictly necessary but I can see it here because it's kinda historical.

I have had a few "German" IPAs that I've really enjoyed, others not so much, but Hallertau Blanc, Huell Melon, Mandarina Bavaria, Ariana and Callista are all great aroma hops and I especially like Hallertau Blanc for its white grape character, similar to Nelson Sauvin, and Ariana and Calista for their intense berry notes, while I also get a certain red berry vibe from Huell Melon.

Seems more like a suggestion than anything. I’m sure she meant don’t buy any beer unless you find something very intriguing like a new German IPA.

I've had two "German IPAs" before. The first one was about 3 years ago from a local brewery, Man Skirt Brewing, called Germaniacal. The beer used noble hops and lacked any of the typical fruity, piney, or tropical flavors you'd find in a regular IPA. Instead, they were replaced by earthy and herbal notes from the hops with a clean, toasted malt base. I really enjoyed it.

The other one was Bell's Leaves Of Grass Series I: Song Of Myself. That one was more floral with some grapefruit but I thought it was excellent.

And I did not get an alert from the tag from @JHDStein posts (#29) above. Something must be amiss here. Perhaps some moderator could look into this problem?

I got that tag, however there was a thread about tagging not always working as intended a while ago and the consensus was pretty much that there isn't a whole lot that can be done about it.

This is rather off-topic though, so let's get back on track please .

Ah okay. Yeah both of my closest Giants sell beer/wine also and occasionally they get some gems in the mix a six section, especially the one.
