this was a good move. I like that they're proactively trying to slow the bots down. I really dont know how that stuff works, so not sure how effective it is, but seems like a good idea since bots would (I assume...) be programmed to the URL that was there before the inventory loaded.

 

Agreed - all for anything to screw the bots up. Not part of the FB group but imagine the complaints are at an all-time high.

 

I imagine it’s like those procedural dramas where someone is typing code into a random black screen explaining to the newbs what the dark web is (I also don’t know how it works, in case you couldn’t tell)

 

For the first time since Covid hit, I didn't strike out! I loved the bottle of Ambiente that I got in trade last year, really looking forward this version!

By choosing to do the beer release instead, you'd be helping them rely on their survival instincts in an actual emergency. That's valuable life knowledge, and knowing is half the battle.

Passed this morning since I have too many saisons and wilds at the moment that I need to drink down, but I really liked the measures they implemented to try and stop the bots. Anyway, congrats to those who scored! Looking forward to seeing some reviews of BA Ambiente. Sounds delicious.

 

Seems like the most effective way to screw up bots is to just randomly post beers without any announcement. Maybe even do multiple drops rather than 1 large drop. I assume changing the URL would make this even better.

Do you guys really think that bots are that big of an issue? I feel like the better explanation is that people from all over the country now have the ability to buy the beer who didn't before, and most of these people are working from home and constantly at a computer or on their phone. So when theoretically, lets say 5-7k people know a release is dropping, they pounce right away. There may be a handful of people who have figured out a bot, but when it's one per person there is no way its as big an issue as people are making it seem like.

 

Even if it's 5 people using bots...if they are thwarted....that's 5 people that wouldn't normally get it. I'm good with that

 

Some guy posted a link to a very easy to use bot on the SdC facebook group and it was up for a while. I'm sure that made the issue quite worse.
