Breaking in my brand new dimpled mug with Transient’s Rye Helles Lagger aged in Chestnut casks. The base rye Helles is on point and the Chestnut casks make it extra interesting. A damn good way to break in the glass. Deeper thoughts on the way in NBW. Cheers!

 

Afternoon Advocates. Am buying a curl bar from a buddy, which will make certain exercises much more convenient (upright rows, for example) than taking the six foot bar off the rack and using it.

Starting out the beer half of my day with a very nice Porter from Collective Arts. Cheers.

HA + Nelson = ENVY

 

The sun's shining enough today that I'm able to sit on my three season porch, listen to some music, and have a beer. This is a good sign that better (warmer/sunnier) days are ahead.

Drinking a Heady, because when you have Heady, you drink Heady.

Again, such a great return - Sculpin was an early favorite IPA for me - and still currently ranked as my #25 IPA (out of 295 in the "IPA - American" category) - tastes great - sweeter and fuller than I'd recalled - beautiful hoppage - Amarillo and Simcoe, per this article...

At this point, I got another Mexican Hot Chocolate and some Irish whiskey left - I've very culturally diverse - so I'll see you here or there for one or the other...

Back from day 2 at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa with Mrs. Z ... yesterday morning she got COVID vacation shot #1, this morning she got her yearly CAT-scan, tomorrow morning we go again to see her new oncologist/surgeon to get the results; fingers crossed...

Drinking first beer of the day, Burial’s “A Modern Ballad of Self-Torture” IPA, in a sick glass I got at the brewery during my beercation last October:



Yesterday afternoon I attended HBS’s 4th Anniversary shindig featuring another epic bottle share...I was too consumed with consuming to post any pics, but here is one of what I took to the share:




1. Black Stock Brewing’s “TDH Thread Count”;
2. OH’s “Radiant Cut”;
3. CCB’s 2020 El Cat “Cosmic Collision” (courtesy of @LADEDA);
4. Fremont’s BBA “Chocolate, Vanilla, Maple Syrup Dark Star” (2019);
5. Alaska Brewing’s “Torn” IPA; and,
6. pFriem’s “Pilsner”.

A few of my favorites from the share included:

Junk Yard’s BBA Peanut Butter Stout, aged in Buffalo Trace barrels.

In all, I sampled about 20 excellent beers...when things get back to normal, come down to St. Pete and hit up our first Saturday of the month share. Everyone is welcome and we have a great time.
