My first new beer this weekend is Paradisio from Great Notion. Canned at the end of July. Poured from a can at fridge temp. Light head quickly dissipated. Color is murky orange. The nose is really nice. Lots of orange and tropical fruit right out of the gate. Mango, papaya, passionfruit, and pineapple. Not getting the coconut, at least on the nose. I can't see the aroma is overly complex - it's a fruit bomb. Slight sourness is detectable, along with a bit of vanilla. The taste takes a 180. Very sour on first taste. Actually mouth-puckering. Definitely getting the coconut - almost a rum-like taste, especially on the back end. The tropical fruit flows throughout the taste, with similar notes to the nose. Passionfruit, lychee, mango, and papaya. Vanilla for sure. Almost a vanilla ice cream. The sourness definitely subsides a bit as the palate gets used to it. Sour patch kids starts to emerge, but with slightly less sourness. A tiny bit of funk is there, but this definitely isn't dominant. The mouthfeel is creamy but light. Alcohol is not detectable in any way. Overall, this is a super nice sipper on a summer day. Very happy with this one! Cheers!

Another local oktoberfest but this one is a festbier and it is from my home state of south jersey. This is probably my favorite local lager brewery and I've wanted to try this for a few years. It has always been on tap only and I never could make it to the brewery to have it, luckily this year for the first time, they canned it.

    Bonesaw Brewing Company - Bonetoberfest

This beer pours almost crystal clear and has a darker shade of pale color, it’s lighter than the picture makes it look. The initial head had some nice legs to it and slowly settled to splotchy opaque layers of white. It left behind some minor lacing as well.

It smells very pleasant, mostly notes of honey, bread, and some slight floral hoppy notes.

The taste is similar but with some of the hoppiness showing itself more than it did in the nose. The bread aromas come on with more detail in the taste, almost like lightly toasted crust. After that the hops kick in really nicely, floral and snappy.

The mouthfeel is very nice, it has a medium body with a really nice creamy carbonation. The hops leave a pleasant slightly spicey and floral after taste. Lowe bitterness with a very clean and dry finish.

Another great lager from Bonesaw, I really like the hops on this one. They're very balanced in the beer and add an extra layer to it. Far from front and center, and in no way overly hopped, but something that makes this beer pleasantly different but still similar enough to the festbiers I have had and enjoy. At least one more new beer this weekend, with the extra day possible two.

So far most intriguing beers to me are the fresh hop Oktoberfest @snaotheus and your Vienna @jkrich.

Though I also have to say your pour and description of that dragons milk @beergoot make that one seem very good as well.

Want me to try and stash one away for your visit this month? I still have one in my fridge, but I have to admit it's in serious danger of getting drunk tonight if there's not a plan to the contrary.

New Province Optical Illusion India Cream Ale, ABV unknown, 3.5 over all

Pours a bright gold with a pinky of beige head. Below average head retention & lacing

S: Corny, some floral hops, fades once warm

T: Follows the nose, dry, sweet notes to go with the cornyness up front. More dryness & cornyness as this warms, a little grassyness & floral hop. Finishes dry & sweet with a little grassyness

    MF: Medium body, moderate carbonation

Typical cream ale with a little helles/English PA thrown in, not 18 any more, so this does nothing for me

Oh man thanks for offering. Really no need to go out of your way though, if it’s tasting great drink away. I’ll live vicariously through your fresh hop posts till I get to indulge myself and hopefully load my suitcase home

    Good evening NBW
    My closer for tonight
    [IMG]
    Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple
11.2oz bottle coded 02BU poured into a tulip glass at just above fridge temp 10.7% ABV. The beer pours bright medium amber in color with abundant khaki head. The head recedes to a thin ring and single layer of bubbles leaving a complete lacing. The aroma is mild with bread, malt and clove. The taste is semisweet toasty, bready caramel with with somewhat earthy and clovey notes. Mild bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with high carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Minimal alcohol presence in the taste. Overall, good.

This one drinks more like an amped up triple and really isn't what I was expecting when I bought it.

    Cheers all!

Bought a single pint can a year or so ago and tonight seemed like a good night for it. Pouring into a tulip produced a medium tan head over a dark brown body. Smell is really pronounced with a strong vanilla coconut presence over a coffee malt base. Taste follows the nose. Very smooth mouthfeel. Another nice stout by R. Shea for an early fall night.

Had our monthly SAN (Stout Application Night) last night with a lot of tasty BA Old Rasputin. Which means today I had to take it easy. Beer wise that is; outside I had 3 fires going to try and eradicate some invasive vines.
So for dinner I pulled out one sent to me by the amazing @WunderLlama for an LIF Associated with NBW BIF 13.
Farmhouse Pale Ale from Oxbow Brewing Co.
This one perplexed me, the appearance was off putting, rather like a 12 oz pour of Thera Flu or similar. The aroma was lost on me because of the aforementioned fires really messing with my nose.
The taste was good though, definitely tart with citrus, lemon maybe? Balancing the tart was funky something that I attributed to the “Farmhouse” part. Then the malts kicked in almost after the swallow. Made for a refreshing and tasty drink.
The feel was good, a little lacking in carbonation but the tartness seemed to make up for it.
    Tasty beer, thanks Maynard!

Im glad it wasn't just me. The aroma was so nice, and then I took that first sip and was totally taken aback by how strong the black pepper was.
I saw this pop up at my local store and thought it said "pumpkin stout" ... was so glad I realized it was pumpkin sour before I bought it ... even moreso after reading your review.

hey you made it!! Good to see you participating here!

Good day BAs! Off to a looong NBW but the usual length NBS. Today's New Breakfast Beer is one I wasn't looking for yesterday at the distributor - I was looking to restock with Electron Brown but it was sold out.

Super Kriek from Ommegang. Purchased on 4/9/21 from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. $ 16.00 (Including tax) per four-pack of 12 oz bottle ($0.333/oz). On room temperature shelf at the store, stored at home at 42 degrees. Reviewed 5/9/21. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.

Marked on rear label “BEST BY 031821” but my local shop “just got it in”. Served at 45.1 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 49.2 degrees.
    Appearance – 4.25.
    First pour – Tangerine, clear.
Body – Dark Red, opaque. When rear-lite, translucent vermillion.
Head – Small (Maximum 2.2 cm, aggressive center pour), misty rose, high density, fizzy, quickly diminishing to a 0.7 cm crown and a complete cap.
Lacing – Excellent! Tight narrow band of extremely tiny bubbles which remains as the level of liquid drops.
Aroma – 4.25 – Cherry, no malt, no hops, no yeast, no funk.
Flavor – 4.5 – Begins slightly sweet with marked cherries. No malt, no hops, no yeast, no funk. No ethanol (7 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. Moderate gastric warming. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 4.25 – Full, just short of creamy, soft but lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4.25 Thank you, Ommegang, for importing this from the mother ship. A delicious, slightly tart, cherry bomb.

    Rating 4.35, rDev +2.6%

Good morning all. Through the kindness of @colby600 I have this . . .

Heady Topper from the Alchemist Brewery

Beautiful hazy golden color with thick, white lasting cap and excellent lacing.

Aroma of citrus and sharp hops. The citrus strikes me as somewhat tropical while the hops have touches of pine and something like the floor of a mature forest.

Flavor is a spectacular blend of citrus, hops and malt. I don't taste the malt so much as feel it's presence, but citrus and hops are on full display. This is a big beer in every sense, big flavors, big texture, 8% ABV, big aroma, big finish, yet it all comes together so harmoniously.

Medium full texture with balancing carbonation.

This is a World class beer worthy of any accolade I could put into words.

Ah! New Beer Sunday; one of my most cherished moments of the week. With the changing of the seasons and the winding down of the para olympics *Olympic withdrawls thankfully only till February and some kick ass hockey *ahem - Its time for an Amber lager with a traditional bacon and egg breakfast.

    Faxe Amber Lager 5.2%

Poured from an excellent looking labeled can packed with shiny halloween colours of black and orange. In a glass mug it has and appetizing creamy, frothy off white head that sits atop a properly couloured dark bronze brew with subtle carbonation. Aroma is of pure caramel malt and nothing else!
Texture is silky smooth and coats the roof of your mouth just like one of those old time molasses halloween candies. 'Welcome to malt country' Great lacing of the glass as the head remains at a 1/4'' inch through the duration of the consumption.
Finishes with some acidity ; my guess would be kent golding hops.

A very nice beer! Being it being brewed true to style I give it a roaring 4.5 out 5.

What a great way to start the day!
Happy New Beer Sunday to you all!

I reviewed this Beer on Friday, due to discrepancies between the label and their web site concerning the ABV and name I contacted the brewery. This is a new beer and not the Flash's version and the ABV is 6%. An update for the ABV is pending. Cheers.

A sturdy pour released a finger sized soapy off-white head with average retention and small sliding spots of foam. Clear copper-gold with amber highlights, real nice.

Bold smell of bready malt and floral/herbal hops with faint toasted multi grain bread.

Neutral taste with average bitterness at first, it quickly becomes semi-dry with a rise in bitterness. Bready malt with dryness from toasting plus hop bitterness keeps sweetness in the background. A tea-like flavor rises as others drop off at the crisp and fast finish, bold bitter hops linger.

Medium light bodied with fizzy and lasting carbonation. Smooth and very well balanced, session-able and true to Festbier style. Canned on 8/02/21 Das Boot.
