I generally love the Põhjala beers all around...they're solid...

It is a style (you had it right) - Heller Bock (pale Bock). Not that I could tell you anything about that beer specifically though. FYI - Their website uses the "HelleBock" spelling, so unless you think their website has a spelling error, maybe you'll want to put in a change request on BA for the name.

Okay, deeply satisfying Seahawks game is in the rear view mirror. Dish washer is humming along. Took out the trash.
It's time for a new beer!

To enjoy this beer, you probably have to enjoy P.O.G. juice, which I do. Makes me wistful for the 10 or so days I spent in Hawai'i in August, 2019. It's balanced really well, the addition of lactose and vanilla was a very subtly done.
Probably my only new beer of the day.
    Cheers, everyone!

Next up, sticking with CT, but moving a little North and a little West: New Park's Blender (Tango edition: strawberry, mango, and tangerine).

This doesn't look much like a beer. It doesn't drink much like one, either ... but it's very damn tasty.

This is an interesting case where "fruited kettle sour" doesn't fit as a style any better than the brewer's claimed "Berliner Weisse" - mainly, well, because it isn't sour. It may have a subtle light funk, bordering on slightly sour, that is familiar to a more traditional BW. It's certainly fruited. But it's not a sour beer.

The flavor profile is perhaps a bit predictable, but really good: mango, strawberry, vanilla, tangerine, papaya. Not a ton of depth, but you don't buy this beer for its complexity or subtlety. You buy it because you want boozy fruit juice - and it delivers.

What do they classify that beer as Larry? Never have had the chance to get there.

Ya I know. I pointed this out at the tap room and didn't get a answer. As the tap handle stated HellaBock, they also wrote Hella on the crowler. It was a nice tap handle with a tuff looking lady on it. almost roller derby kinda girl.
I also changed my mind on the rating numbers and lowered it.

That one was an oatmeal stout and the first one was a mild. Definitely worth checking them out.

    “Great beer , repeatable.”

You are the king of the understatement, my friend. In your parlance, Pliny the Younger is a tick.

    That’s right, I said “parlance.”

12oz can dated 3/04/21 poured vigorously into a 16oz nonic pint glass.
L: Pours a lightly hazed caramel gold with a thin eggshell white head that thins to edge foam. Some spotty skeletal lacing.
S: Orange, tangerine, light citrus, wet dog, grassy.
T: Tangerine, lemon zest, stone fruit, light melon. Bright tasting with some dankness throughout. Lightly resinous and a bit grassy with sweet lightly toasted malt. It has a beautifully balanced and blended medium long and mild bitter finish.
F: Lollygagger PA has a snappy, brisk and clean medium-light bodied mouthfeel. Only slightly drying it is crushable like a session ale.
O: An excellent Midwestern West Coast-Style pale ale. Very flavorful, hop forward and well balanced. Bordering on a session ale it is a bit more than that and is righteous on it's own. It is excellent in it's style.

Good evening NBS/NBW and thank you @SawDog505 for hosting this weekend.
We spoke with Team #1 today and all are healthy, with a "loud baby that poops a lot" Well there you have it . The maples have begun shedding the dry leaves, no color yet but a few weeks and its game on.
Todays offering is from or very good friends at Brick and Feather, who would have thought a Rice Lager!!, and what a delight. This is a sassy, floral, crisp , delight.
Spent the bulk of the day brewing a Coffee Brown Ale, its in the fermenter and now up to the bugs.
    Be well

Poured from a 16 oz can dated Sept 10 2021. so 2 days from packaging.
A - Wonderful clarity, carbonation is vibrant and cant hide in the afternoon sunflower colored backdrop. A thin white cap stays the duration.
S - A fun crisp hop element leads the way, with some verbana as the hint, a lovely malt thread, is wrapped in floral bouquet.
T - Tangy introduction, layers of semi sweet, flowery hops, crisp succint malt/rice all in concert.
M - Bright on the palate, sweet and a hint of tart, incredible dry finish. Just close the door on the way out kind of finish. The best kind. I wonder if Sake yeast is part of the equation.
O - What a treat, the structure and the flavors are in a dance, the aromatics are floral, sweet, and a bit sharp. Punctuated is what comes to mind. Boy I hope this comes around again soon!! A local (to me) outstanding example of the style. Sushi time.

Today’s new beer is a beer I acquired in Texas, so this is at least 4 years old. What a pleasure it is to finally dance with this magnificent (IMHO) beer. I only wish I had a couple more bottles to age and appreciate.

Pours a gorgeous mahogany brown with the slightest hints of ruby on the edges, mostly clear body, and a rich, creamy tan head. The nose has the slightest hint of booze, a lot of oak, and loads of vanilla, caramel, and stone fruit. Wow.

The taste has all the notes mentioned for the nose, with the caramel and stone fruit (primarily plums) being most prominent, and there’s a delicious hop flavor that approaches pine that elevated this significantly for me. Truly a delicious BA barleywine.

The mouthfeel is a smidge on the thin side for a beer of this magnitude, but that doesn’t detract from the beer for me at all - it is a delicious, well-executed flavor ride. World-class stuff, IMHO.
