https://english.radio.cz/czech-scientists-brew-beer-according-3000-year-old-recipe-8732300 Short version: Czech archeologists found a ~3,000 year old large bronze decorated vessel. Sediment in it was analyzed and identified millet, various herbs, and potato starch indicative of an early bitter herbal beer. So, the chemist recreated the beer by brewing it himself.
That is so cool! I wonder if there were advocates back then complaining potato and millet are just too extreme and they should make beer flavored beer?
Well, they're not in business anymore, are they? They chased the potato/millet beer fad and then their customers got bored and moved to the next thing... "Hey, have you heard? Ogg is brewing an amaranth beer flavored with bog myrtle beer down by the river."
They had pototo in Central Europe 3000 years ago? 300 years I could believe but potato is native to the New World and didn't arrive in Europe until the 17th century.
