Had this at the brewery last November and the balance was awesome. (Canned Oct 6, 2021) Today it's still very good, just a bit on the sweeter side. I enjoy an occasional sweeter stout but generally prefer the non flavored versions. And yes, you can taste everything on the label, though the almonds are more 'sensed' than tasted.
Cheers all, let's get the weekend started!

Do you get some Bearded Iris in your neck of the woods of do you have to travel a ways to get your cans? Cheers.

The best KBS by far and the only one I need. I don't get tons of barrel, but this is damn good as a coffee stout even after 10 months. Still tons of the August 2021 batch around here, I really hope they can keep making this.

Bloody hell this is one of the best barrel-aged stouts that I have had in a while. Moksa Singularity JD06 - aged for 24 months in a 6 year Tennessee Whiskey barrel. Just under 200 bottles filled for a local shop in Corona. Comes in at 13.9% and it's so bloody good. Tons of barrel, chocolate, toffee, plums, figs, vanilla, maple, and some roasted malts.

I told you I would be back here @Resistance88 !! Same bourbon barrel treatment for Barreled Souls Flagship Imperial Stout...Stay Puft! THis is 15% and was aged in Woodford Bourbon for 10 months and 22days.
I do hope you get some treats at Barreled Souls when you head up that way @DIM

    Onto my review:

Sampling a cellar temp bottle poured into my snifter. Picked up this beer in October 2021 at the brewery, was bottled on 5-21-2021.
The beer pours a jet black coffee to oil color into my glass. Absolutely no light passing through the glass. A dense tan head of barely 1 cm foams up and fades to a sturdy edge layer soon after the bottle is emptied into my glass.
the aroma is fudge, dark chocolate, vanilla, marshmallow sweetness and some bourbon notes. Hops dont show up here. Booze is well hidden with no fusol notes or spicy hints. While the nose is sweet, it isnt candy like or cloying and is balanced a bit by the dark chocolate.
First sip reveals a medium to thick body with very fine and slightly tingly carbonation. Not very sticky and the texture is smooth.
Flavor is some sweet chocolate and vanilla, then deep fudge and cocoa powder. The marshmallow comes in a bit and the finish allows the rich bourbon to shine through. I also get some warming on the swallow, which is hoe the booze is revealed. I dont get hops anywhere in this beer.
Another fine beer from Barreled Souls and me wishing I had another bottle to sip on. Easily worth the purchase!
    4.55 in the BA DB

We visit the grandkids (and their parents) most Thanksgiving weeks. They live about 40 miles from Nashville and last year I made it a point to actually visit the brewery. So that is where I got them. If you are interested in Bearded Iris, remind me in late October or early November and I will be happy to bring you some.

TRVE brewing total funeral from 2020. Yeah, it's like drinking mayhem. Black, thick, makes me wanna chill in the mountains with otherikeminded fellas in death paint....

So how about some real tasting notes. Chewy, caramel, chocolate, burned coffee. Hops on the back side. Just enough to balance the sweet from the malts.

We are kindred souls in that respect. It's rare I pour a beer into a glass these days.

Look : 5 cuz its a beer in a can.

Smell : 3.75 Picking up 'hella' coffee and no coconut in but thats always been the case. Coconut itself is comes off as unscented and flavorless to me and makes no god damned sense to inflate a beers price cuz you put one in it. Initially i got zero barrel notes but as it warmed i pick up vanilla , alcohol burn on the nose and caramel or someshit

Feel: 5 its a road beer. Nothing better

Taste : 4.00 . A lot of great coffee and roasted malt. Nuttiness, ,char, milk chocolate, no coconut.

For the price id never buy again. 10 dollars. At 40 bucks for the 4 pack they're out of their god damned minds. Luckily they sold singles . This was 1 of 2 BA stouts i ran into on this trip to the bay area. These people have a problem. An IPA problem. It made me dizzy . So major points to these guys for being bold enough to sell one

A wonderful non adjunct( banana free:stuck_out_tongue:) Russian Imperial Stout.

Look : 5 . Looks like the ghost of G Washington or a Zombie Pirate.

Smell : 5. It'S all beautifully cooked malts , semi sweet chocolate chips, cocoa and some vanillia bean or something along those lines

Taste : Follows your nose wherever it goes! Initial flavor of cold brew with a pump of vanilla . Not insulting. Flavor of crystal malty stuffs and everything great about Non BA Non Adjuncted well made Russian Imperial Stouts

Feel : 5 . Feels good that it's going into my liver.

Overall : 5 . Ima drown in these over the next week or so.

tonight’s stout offering comes from Central Waters. as always, it’s kind of not much to look at when leaving the bottle and it’s not the thickest mouthfeel you can get in imperial stouts, but the barrel and vanilla are on point and you can’t beat the price tag. cheers!
