It’s from their “secret stash” aka Fremont or some store sent over a few cases that haven’t sold

have you had it? Did i just waste more money?

No way! I still haven't had either of my 2022 bottles, but I think a new release is a perfect excuse to get another HotD box

The 2022 was excellent. I drank a bottle of batch 1, and it was not very good. I still have one of those, so a vertical might be in my future!

And while we're on the topic of HotD, here's a beer that reminds me much of their beers, a 2020 Central Waters Brandy Barrel Barleywine from the fucking man @DIM!!

This one shows its age, but gracefully. Lots of black cherry and brandy with sweet and smoky notes like caramel and tobacco in the nose. A bit less fruit-focused in taste, still very much brandy but some bigger notes of walnut, molasses, and burnt caramel. Drinks shockingly easy for 14.8%. Shoutout again to @DIM for generously sending this one along with some old Bigfoot vintages. A great beer to sit with an watch the storm roll in

I've noticed batch 1 has significantly lower ratings. Happy I have batch 2!

I need some of these CW beers in my life. I've only come across one of their bottles and it was De Klein Dood, which apparently is a Weizenbock. The label just said Ale aged in bourbon barrels, so I figured it was a barleywine. The place still has about 5 of them on the shelf (probably from 2013 based on the BA page) https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/652/81602/

Was pretty good, but these 12oz ones I see all the time look incredible.

Untappd has some funny reviews from people who clearly went into it not knowing what a non-aged american barleywine tastes like

First, whomever mentioned Tavour... So easy to spend so much. Love it, but I think I'll regret installing it.

Opened up one of my two 2015 Bigfoot tonight. I could have done a lot better aging it, but it stood up. I might be a year past ideal time, though I'm not complaining. Alcohol has aged away, a smooth bigfoot is a scary thing.

Baladins are evidently still, not sure about “oxidized.”
