haha, I had mine after baseball tryouts for the 8-year-old and a long bike ride with all of the kiddos. Tasted great.

And hope you're right about the Phils - my head says they'll be ok, my emotions say they stink.

Pours clear pale yellow. Spicy hops, lightly fruity, firm carbonation. Dry, grassy, and minerally. A bit too thin and watery, but pleasant.

    Hello New Beer Weekend!!!

I am just going to jump into it, and talk about my new beer:
Just The Haze - Sam Adams brewing - Low Alcohol beer.

I was in the mood for something tonight, just not in the mood for alcohol. This fits the bill. It has a ton of flavor, and it tastes like a hazy IPA. If all N/A beers were this good, I would be enjoying them more often.

    From a can.
This beer looks like a hazy IPA on the pour. Quite murky golden color. The head that forms is 2 finger, white, frothy looking, and long lasting. There's some lacing on the glass.
The aroma is actually quite full of tropical citrus. I get some mango going on here.
Taste, well, it tastes like an IPA. I get a good citrus bill here. Mango seems to be the main flavor. I also get some pineapple.
The body is lighter. It isn't really sticky feeling. Somewhat crisp feeling.
If you want the flavor of a hazy, without the alcohol, you won't go wrong here at all.

See you all tomorrow night after I am done with work. Cheers.

Back at it with another Tree House Czech dark lager from @DIM - this one is Nomadic. Nomadic is a variant of Nomad that features a careful addition of green cardamom.

Pours a dark brown color. Completely opaque. Thick frothy, velvety khaki colored head forms on the beer. Head shows excellent retention. The aroma is really dominated by the green cardamom. However underneath that there are notes of lightly roasted malts, hints of coffee, cream, and some rye bread.

The green cardamom is noticeable on the nose, but does not dominate the profile as much as the nose would imply. Notes of roasted malt, cocoa, rye bread and cream all come through. In the end this beer is so good, but the addition of the cardamom just does not improve the beer overall. Feel is light, smooth, almost velvety. Moderate carbonation. Semi-dry finish.

Overall its a very nice Czech dark lager, I just did not think the cardamom worked for me here.

[IMG] Poured into a 16 oz Snulip glass canned on 3/27/23. Pours a very attractive yellow orange with a finger sticky white head that leaves a thick streak of lace with excellent retention. 4.75

Aroma is cantaloupe, mango, peach, tangerine, passionfruit, and apricot. 4.5

Taste follows cantaloupe, mango, peach, passionfruit, tangerine, and apricot very well balanced and tasty. 4.5

Mouthfeel is a little bigger than average, not sticky or dry, soft gentle almost creamy carbonation, and at 5.8% it drinks much bigger, but goes down really easy. 4.5

Overall this is as good as any NEAPAs I have ever had. What a summer BBQ crusher this would be. 4.5 Cheers all.

Good morning BAs! Today’s new to me beer is from Angry Chair Brewing, Tampa FL - “The Awakening” Coffee Stout with Coffee, Vanilla Beans, and Lactose:

Canned 3/9/23. Purchased at brewery 4/14/23. Poured at 52°. Dark black body with thin ruby edge; dark brown fizzy head that disappeared quickly leaving thin ring at best and no lacing; no legs on swirl. Strong coffee nose followed by milk chocolate; some vanilla as beer warmed. Sweet milk chocolate entry; bitter roast coffee; a little vanilla as beer warmed; coffee finish. Dusty tongue coating; medium body; moderate minus carbonation; no warmth from 7.4% abv. Overall, tastes like an iced mocha coffee with cream and sugar; long bitter coffee linger; more coffee nose/taste than FBS, and sweeter.

    3.75 | 4.25 | 4.25 | 4.25 | 4.25
    Score: 4.22 rDev: - 1.6%

If you like coffee stouts, this beer brings the coffee. Cheers!

[IMG] Poured into a 16 oz Snulip glass canned on 12/02/22. Pours an attractive dark brown with a solid finger plus sticky light brown head that leaves a few thin lines of lace, with solid retention. 4.25

Aroma is cocoa beans, coffee grounds, chili peppers, cinnamon, vanilla, and cayenne. 4

Taste follows cocoa, coffee, cayenne, cinnamon, vanilla, and chili peppers in the lingering finish. 4

Mouthfeel is slightly above average, gentle carbonation, maybe a little dry, and at 10% big unique flavor, but still approachable enough. 4

Overall this is not what I had hoped, still nice and different. I say worth a shot for sure. 4

Good day BAs! Today's NBW entry is Where Our Secrets Go from Voodoo Brewing, just 30 miles up the road.

Where Our Secrets Go from Voodoo, 16.9 fl oz bottle from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA, for $15.50 (Including tax), $ 0.215/fl oz. Purchased 13/04/23. On room temperature shelf at store. Reviewed 16/04/23 (Review 3075). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated bottle. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Served at 55.0 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 56.4 degrees F.
    Appearance – 4.
First pour – Ruby Brown (SRM 24), nearly opaque.
Body – Ruby Brown (SRM 24), opaque. Under direct light, opaque and black (SRM 40). When rear lite, shows a translucent ruby at the edges.
Head – Large (Maximum 6.5 cm, aggressive center pour), caramel, high density, average retention, leaving a complete 3-4 mm crown, and a thin, rocky, complete cap.
    Lacing – None
Aroma – 4 – Strong aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, and a touch of wood; no yeast, no hops. No ethanol (9 % ABV as (poorly) marked on the label) aroma.
Flavor – 4 – Follows the nose, moderately bitter with roasted malt. No hops, yeast, or ethanol. Muted gastric warming. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium; seems a bit thin; soft carbonation. The oats add a touch of slickness to the mouthfeel.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated personal container) The massive head on the initial and subsequent pours would seem to indicate over-carbonation although the carbonation is not aggressive in the mouth or on the tongue. Flavor and aroma are more typical of a porter than the stout end of the spectrum – hardly an “Imperial” stout. Still, very drinkable, and exceptional for Voodoo – it goes down fast!

    Rating 3.9, rDev -1.3%

Good morning, Weekenders! Back with some more Tree House, and more to follow this afternoon, but right now it's one-and-done, as we've got a food truck festival to hit up for lunch today - and any more than this, and I'd be going for a nap instead.

This is Tree House Salted Caramel Quadrupel Shot, an 11% ABV imperial stout with ... well, I suspect you can figure it out. :stuck_out_tongue:

This is a bit less thick than you might expect given both the motor oil-like pour, the ABV, and Tree House's typical mouthfeel. Then again, I often find that's the case with their stouts, which are somehow less creamy and pillowy than their IPAs. It's still an excellent mouthfeel, however.

Flavor profile starts off almost muted and homogeneous, before quickly developing in a series of waves. It starts with a rich roastiness that seems as due to the malt base as the coffee. As soon as you notice and start to savor this development, the caramel comes along, adding its own semi-sweet richness.

Full tasting notes include red grape, toast, coffee, molasses, chocolate, vanilla, caramel, and light to moderate char. Delicious beer that works as well as a dessert stout as a breakfast stout - perhaps better.

Now that I'm over my fomo for missing yesterday and only having a Longboard Lager at my MIL's house, I can begin my eager consumption of new beers from @Whyteboar!

First up is Bells - Quite Brite

    Canned 9.9.22

Poured into a nonic at fridge temp

Pours a nice pale orange fully cloudy/opaque with a loose white head that settled into a denser ring. 4

Light Orange and related citrus, some wheat and yeasty aroma. I love wheats so I loved this. 4

Dough and yeast forward, some more breadiness and a touch of citrus on the end. 3.75

Initially biting on the tongue, light and refreshing. 3.75

Overall a good belgiany wheat that had everything I wanted and nothing I didn't! 3.9

Fine Balance Letna Czech Pale Lager.

Pours a straw gold with ample pillowy head that sticks around s for the life of the beer.

The aromas are biscuit, grass, floral. The bready quality sticks out.

Taste follows with the floral notes amped up a little and moderate bitterness that continues on after the finish.

    Light bodied. Great carbonation.

A solid little pale lager that rings in at 4.4% ABV. I’d gladly drink more.

    Cheers!

Next up again courteous of @Whyteboar is one I've been looking forward to since I opened the BIF box.

    Bells - Oberon

This seems like a clear reference to GoT, but I could be wrong especially after looking it up on bells website.
Turns out it's just my nerd brain making the connection. Oberon != Oberyn

Canned fresh this year I do believe, 2.18.23 if I'm reading that right.

Poured into a nonic glass at fridge temp

Pours almost clear golden with a tightly packed head. Lasted a good bit before setting into a similarly tight ring. 4

Nose is stronger wheat and just clear wheat after that. After a swirl of the glass and warming some sweetness comes out, but just wheat and some malt. (Not a bad thing, I love wheat) 4.25

Crank up the wheat! Taste follows the above, big wheat, some malt, perhaps a pinch of hops, but mostly wheat all through and around. Delightful to me really. 4.25

Fairly high and strong effervescence. Just the tiniest bit dry but a solid medium filling body. 4.25

Enjoyed this one much more (guess American wheats are my thing) than the previous bells quite brite. Very clean and distinct. 4.25

Siren Broken Dream Sweet/Milk Stout 6.5% ABV. Pours black with a three-finger tan head that left great lacing. Nose is lactose, coffee, light chocolate, and sweet malt. Taste follows, slightly sweet and faintly bitter, coffee on the close. Excellent mouthfeel, with light carbonation. Overall excellent.

    4.03/5 rDev +0.5%
    look: 4.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Showing the 12oz CW Stout can to contrast the slight size deficit of the weenie 11.2oz Siren can. It was real obvious to me when I picked it up, due to the weight and height difference, slight as they are. Still no idea what the point of the smaller dose is, I already feel robbed with 12oz doses vs 16oz. Shredded BBQ pork in the crock for supper.

One more coat on the deck, and I'm done. This new beer quenches the thirst quite well. I'm drinking Surfea, a Mexican Lager from Eddyline Brewery.
The beer is a pale yellow color with a slight haze. A tiny white head and no lace.
Not much aroma, some floral hops.
Taste of corn, with a kiss of hops.
    Light-bodied.
