Does anyone know what will be in the Aldi Beer Advent calendar this year? Or, perhaps someone knows what was in it last year? I want to know if it is worth paying $50 for 24 12-oz cans.

Here's what the Aldi web site says:

    American Pilsner - 5.5%
    Belgian Blonde Ale - 6%
    Belgian White Ale - 5%
    Blonde Ale - 4.5%
    Cherry Kolsch - 4.4%
Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter - 6%
    Chocolate Stout - 6%
    Double Hazy IPA - 6%
    Dry Hopped IPA - 6%
East Coast Style IPA - 6%
    German Pilsner - 4.5%
    Grapefruit IPA - 6%
    Hazy IPA - 6%
    Hefeweizen - 5%
    Holiday Lager - 5.6%
    Hoppy Lager - 4.5%
Irish Style Red Ale - 4.5%
    Italian Style Pilsner - 5.5%
    Mexican Style Lager - 6%
    Oatmeal Stout - 6%
    Pale Ale - 5.6%
    Scottish Style Ale - 6%
    Session IPA - 5%
West Coast Style IPA - 6%

I couldn't find out who actually brews these, but I don't think I'd pay fifty bucks for a case of them. YMMV.

    In one package it contains:
    • East Coast Style IPA
    • Hazy IPA
    • West Coast Style IPA
Which means it will answer the question BAs have been pondering for literally days.

I got it a few years ago, there were a couple that were passable. This year getting for myself and my son & 2 son in laws the Shiner Home for the Holidays (Kosmos, Frost, Cheer, Hefeweisen, Candied Pecan, Golden, Dunkelweisen, Birthday Beer, Kolsh, 101, Homespun, and Bavarien ale) along with the Stone12 days of IPA. They can mix and match as they please. I have had about half of the shiner beers, so figure it will be a good opportunity to revisit the others. Also I saw the Stone pack in a store and the selection looked good. So $45 + tax doesn't seem bad for these 2 12 packs.

Note: This was last years selection from Stone (Stone IPA (6.9%); Stone Scorpion Bowl IPA (7.5%); Stone Hazy IPA (6.7%); Stone Tangerine Express Hazy IPA (6.7%); Stone ///Fear.Movie.Lions Hazy Double IPA (8.5%); Stone Delicious IPA (7.7%); Stone Delicious Citrus IPA (7.7%); Stone Delicious Double IPA (9.4%); Stone Ruination IPA (8.2%); Stone 26th Anniversary Imperial IPA (9.7%); Stone Peak Conditions Hazy Double IPA (8.1%); and Bair / Ishii / Stone Japanese Green Tea IPA (10.1%))

9 Aldi's in this state and none that sell beer or alcohol. Yay! Supposedly CT has some but I haven't been to any. Mass. I have no idea.

If these beers are all brewed by one brewery I have little hope that all or most of them will be above average. In fact, I'd guess that one or two would be below average for style. But you get what you pay for, and at $2 per beer it might be worth it as long as you don't have high hopes going in.

    Appears they're brewed by:
...using the Aldi brand's 'dba' name of STATE OF BREWING

Good question! These days, not at all. If I was, it may be worth it. But as it stands, I'd rather spend my $50 elsewhere.

Yeah, I think for $2 a beer I can find a better and more tailored selection to my liking in the singles section. No time to drink less than great beer, so I'm going to creat my own Holiday lineups.

what kinda beers in the singles section are you finding for 2 dollars?
Only shit i can find close to that is Rasputin, Founders crap and sometimes Celebrator( whole foods staff are clueless and price stuff ) , but wven then its 3 dollars
I would never buy an advent calender because 1) Christmas is corny as hell 2) i only really enjoy 4 beer styles and IPA abd Cream Ales aren't on it 3) NO

I have been working my way through the Aldi Beer Advent Calendar. As noted above, the brewer is listed as "State of Brewing" and costs $49.99 in VA. I can;t say anything is horrible, but overall they taste average to slightly below average in flavor. A few IPAs are pretty good, but no huge standouts to me. Honestly, I am more of a fan of the Costco Advent Calendar ($69.99), despite it not containing the same brews as the Kalea Advent Calendar in Germany or even the Australian version of the Costco Advent Calendar, which had the Kalea "Bad Santa" edition weizenbock.

I've been disappointed in Aldi and their beer selection for years. Always the average brews at best. I do pick up a Bitburger or Wernesgruener 4pk every once in a while but the IPA is meh and not much value at that. At least TJs has the Gordon Biersch German styles which are usually decent and fresh.

The stuff that comes out of Wisconsin is always questionable. Wish they'd find a better contract brewer (and add a *German* hefeweizen to the selection).

I'm working through the Advent calendar 2023. Finding the beers mostly passable with only a few disgusting flavor-added varieties (e.g. peanut chocolate porter ). The "lagers" and "hefe" got me thinking... there must be a standard base ale used for ALL of these, just finished with whatever hops, etc to pass as whatever. (Is that even possible?) There's a uniform heft and taste, and none go above 6% ABV. Slightly suss. On the other hand, the generic artwork is fascinating.
