I would have gotten in trouble during my primary bourbon days at this brewery.

Lots of great options including PVW, Weller and others.

This is my go to here. Was sold out last visit, grateful it’s on tap now.

OK, another stamp for my passport, my standby here.

Breweries with an imperial brown ale. Party of one (that I know).

...I see some excellent bourbons, some I currently have (e.g., Booker's, E.H. Taylor (single barrel and small batch), some I would like to get again (of all the Pappy bourbons, Reserve 'Lot B' is my favorite)...I can't tell if one of the top shelf bottles - 3rd from left - is Michter's 'Bomburger - Declaration', but that is also an excellent bourbon (and also in my current stash...and, FYI, if you haven't tried a snort of A.H. Hirsch 16-Year Reserve, treat yourself if you ever find it...it'll be very, very pricey even for a shot...then, too, stop by Colorado Springs and I'll share a splash from my blue wax bottle of the stuff (I paid less than one-half percent of that asking price about 25-30 years ago)...

I love seeing the price sticker on the bottle from when I bought it sometime in the mid- to late 90s: $63.99. The last few bottles I bought of the gold foil bottles (when still somewhat easy to find was around $125 - $150 per bottle. Thank goodness for other good bourbons around today that don't cost so much. I still enjoy Wild Turkey 101 (amongst other examples) as a low-cost alternative.

I like to think what I could buy beer- and bourbon-wise if I were to sell it, but I love that whiskey so much that it isn't going anywhere else. But if I theoretically would sell it, I'd perhaps finance a trip to Russian River for a release of Pliny the Younger and maybe score a bottle of Sam Adam's Utopia. Plus, there are Denver area breweries that I'd like to visit / revisit for beers I don't normally find down in Colorado Springs.

Love seeing and reading about your whiskey pours in WBAYDN @beergoot ! Nice you were able to pick up amazing bottles at reasonable prices before everyone started bidding into the stratosphere.

The prices for some of the featured 1 oz pours ranged between $50 - $100 at Nevada Brew Works; though they also have bourbons at more approachable prices.

I never learned about bourbon in terms of the various high end pours as a drinker, but was appreciative when coming across new to me bottles. Blanton’s and Weller offerings are the two I would be able to purchase relatively easily back in the day. Woodford Reserve, Maker’s Mark and Paddy were my three go to pours before transitioning into beer nearly a decade ago.

One last full day for me to enjoy a few local Mountain Region offerings!

    First stop for me, HUDL.

    HUDL Pils

    Brewery notes:
$5.42 Nevada Passport Priced Pint. 16 oz shaker pint pour. 5.2% ABV.

Appearance: Clear straw color pour, medium plus sustained carbonation. Bright white head leaves creamy thin cover over the base and minimal soapy streaks. 3.75

    Aroma:
    Traditional Saaz hops, cracker salt
and pepper. Mild in strength. 3.5

    Taste:
Somewhat bitter, mix of cracker, salty, with pepper. Tastes a little like lemon dishwashing soap. Meh. 2.5

    Mouthfeel:
Carbonation prickly and sustained throughout. Drinks at ABV, hoppy with mild bitterness. Lemon salt cracker finish. 2.75

    Overall:
Not for my palate, but will finish. 2.75

People are nice here, but the beer has never meshed well for me. Nice part for others considering is there are many other options as well.

Only stepped in here for the passport. They were pouring certain beers into a coffee pot including the one I ordered, before pouring into a pint glass, saying they have trouble with select tap lines. Taking a chance with one of three brewed at their Las Vegas faculty.

    Trustworthy Slainte

    Brewery Notes:
$7.58 16 oz shaker pint pour. 5.0% ABV, 24 IBUs. Irish Dry Stout. Las Vegas Originals.

Appearance: Beige tan base, thin egg white cover. Looks a little sketch. 2.25

    Aroma:
Light roast malt, not much more after a couple more tries. 2.5

Taste: Tastes like melted chocolate fudge for a sundae. Bitter roast malt follows. This beer is a hot mess. 2.5

    Mouthfeel:
Prickly carbonation, very chalky and dry, barely there alcohol. Bitter finish. 2.0

    Overall:
Hard Pass, not sure I would give them a second chance based on the pour draft lines and this beer. 2.0

Ha! Will end up with nine because Astronomy closed yesterday due to a slow night, but my brother will secure the final stamp on my behalf.

Back at North 5th. Not the easiest place to visit from the Strip/Downtown, but worth hitting if you have time to explore the Valley.

    North 5th Sunnier Days

Brewery Notes: $8 plus tax 16 oz snifter pour, 5.7% ABV, West Coast Pilsner.

Appearance: Golden clear pour, mild carbonation, thin fine white lacing and cover once the head settles. 3.75

Aroma: Not sure the hop or malts used, would say this smells like a Citra Mosiac pale ale. I don’t get traditional Pilsner flavors, but since it’s sold as a WC Pilsner, whatever that term means, I will not penalize for style variance since I’m not sure. I’m enjoying what I smell, so yeah! 3.75

Taste: Ok, getting some of the Pilsner I expected, but definitely leaning toward a APA with the citrus pineapple and tangerine notes. Am getting significant salt, but chalking that up to my heavy salt sensitivity for Pilsner hops. 3.5

Mouthfeel: Light carbonation persistent, dry sweet overall with the tropical fruit. Medium near full feeling beer with the sweetness, tropical fruit lingers nicely on the finish. 4.0

Overall: If West Coast Pilsner means an modern APA with hints of Saaz, then this is great. I am enjoying what is in my glass. If you are looking for a traditional Pilsner, I recommend ordering something else. 3.75

Will stick around for one more before heading to Big Dog.

Second and final with at least two more stops tonight. This was a solid new to me beer enjoyed last week that I’m happy to still have it on.

Bittersweet evening, as this is likely my last open of this beer here post sale to Beer Zombies and likely phase out of this beer. It’s one of my favorites.

Looking like I'll be in LV at the beginning of March so I'll keep my eyes out for any remaining Tenaya Creek beers that happen to be around. Depending on whether we feel like walking an extra 1/4 mile, maybe I'll brave the long trek down to the Fontainebleau. I kinda want to see the place, but my wife is less enthused. With them losing an executive per week, they might not make it for very long.

Beer Zombies are still brewing / releasing beer under the Tenaya Creek brand. It is rumored to likely change sometime this year.

Just want to clarify so people don’t think they are ordering stale / out of code beer when they visit. I’ll post a summary of recommendations in the Visiting Las Vegas thread after I get settled in back home.
