    Howdy!

Drinking Brooklyn East IPA… sunny today, for those past four-five months I had almost forgotten what a clear sky looked like.

    Good morning Advocates,
while waiting to go to London for two and a half days next week, I'll write you a few lines about a new beer for me, part of my latest beer haul:

Alder Beer Co. (Seregno, ITA) - PONCH - West Coast Double IPA (8%)

44 cl can with the following information on the label:
"Lot: L010F; Packaging date: 02/15/2024; Best before: 07/15/2024".
American "West Coast" style Double India Pale Ale with Hops: Citra Trial 702, Simcoe Cryo, Chinook CGX, Motueka, Citra, Nelson Sauvin; Malts: Pils, Cara and also added sugar and finally as Yeast: American Ale.
Citra Trial 702 is a concentrated liquid version of Citra hops.
As soon as the can is opened, it smells of (white) peach, ripe citrus fruit, light more resinous notes.
When poured, it is blonde in colour, only slightly hazy but beautifully transparent and releases little foam and little consistency.
The nose seems to have poured peach pulp juice... incredible.
In the mouth, a full-bodied beer that gives a full drink and also has a significant alcohol content.
Beer that releases fruity notes even after drinking as long as it remains on the tongue: I especially smell yellow peach. Ripe citrus fruits and grapefruit are certainly noticeable in the broad tasting bouquet. The finish is pleasantly bitter, with a herbaceous touch that remains on the tongue together with the extreme fruitiness that also pervades the palate.
Beer characterized only by this use of hops which imbue it (in a positive sense) with a vivid, tasty, juicy fruitiness, which does not go away even after some time after the last sip: in aroma, it exudes hops.
That it is an important drink can be understood just from the density that is perceived in the mouth, plus the alcohol content is noticeable even if it's masked behind the extreme fragrance of the beer.
Only positive adjectives, the Brewmaster (Marco Valeriani) has made yet another bomb in this style.
I would be really curious to hear your opinions, you who come from the Motherland of this style.
I would be really curious to hear your opinions, you who come from the Motherland of this style and will have drunk the absolute masterpieces.

    Yazoo Brewing Gerst Amber

Bright amber gold with light tan cap and moderate lacing

Aroma has Nice touches of toffee, caramely malt with little hop presence.

Good rich flavor here, nicely rounded with a hint of sweetness and hops playing a very diminished role. Darker malt flavor is evident without any roasty malt bitterness.

    Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

An Amber worthy of the name in color, flavor, texture and taste. I'm not saying flavor and taste can't be the same thing, rather here we have several flavor threads creating a fairly complex taste. I don't know why the same brewery makes Dos Perros and Gerst as both have a similar appeal and this one is clearly the winner of the two.

A nice walk earlier on this 75° day, along the bike path that straddles the golf course down the road from me, with a local coffeehouse iced Americano. Now indoors, as the rain has started, with a Big Grove Easy Eddy IPA. Cheers!
