DC/MD/NoVA Beer Updates (2024)

Just wondering, is Trillium starting to distribute on the regular down in Maryland? Castle Liquors up in Williamsport/Hagerstown has posted they are getting some in now and also Beer Shed in Waynesboro PA (about 15 miles from Williamsport has posted the same. Not sure if random drops to sweet stores or becoming something more widespread in distribution.

 

Sorry, not MD-related, but in DC, the wine store Urban Grape, which has a sister location in Boston, is now carrying Trillium beers and says it will be a regular thing.

 

I check 2 different stores in Frederick yesterday and they didn’t have any or know about Trillium. DC with their distribution regs, always gets the best of the best out of area craft beers in the region it seems.

 

Dominion and beer shops in VA have been getting Trillium on and off for a while. Their beer is good but their price is dumb. Easy pass

 

Yeah, honestly the Trillium for the last year at least has been just okay. The exception was the recent kegs of Headroom, but $30 a 4-pack for an IPA from them is silly.

 

Oh that’s just stupid pricing. I’d pass as well, even if it were super fresh. It’s been at least 5+ years since I’ve had any of their IPAs. Had a few of their wild ales in last couple years that were amazing. I’ve heard they have had some inconsistencies lately.

 

I just picked up some 10-day-old cans of Ocelot's Big Cat IIPA at Dominion. Man this is a great beer. I've been drinking a fair amount of Tree House recently, and this is right up there. In fact, it reminds me of Very Hazy. Check it out if you like big NEIIPAs.

two weeks to snallygaster, no updates, anybody have any idea what's going on?

 

It looks like NRG posted the beer list on Untappd a bit over a week before last year's event. I'm guessing they'll probably do the same this year.

 

and its great that they did that but... I admit I didn't do snally until last year because I swore off beer fests. Me and 10 of my friends are doing it this year. But they were so much more ahead on things. They already had breweries assigned to locations released to the public and the beer list was public... I'd expect untappd to be last.

I did see a post on the dc beer page so it looks like "game on" but man...

They announced the first 85 entries on the beer list via Instagram yesterday. I'd guess they're going to continue rolling them out there in the coming days.

 

Suspicion confirmed. They're starting to add these to the Snally '24 venue on Untappd too, so it seems they're on a similar timeline to last year. Things are getting exciting!

 

Yes, my misgivings are relieved but I was operating on last year's timelines. I'm not even truly interested in what beers will be there because I'll be going anyways and there will be a lot of stuff I don't have a care for. I see this more as a massive social event and possibly a chance to talk to beer pros.
