Burial Beer Co. Heavy Resin IPA? DIPA? 7.3% ABV with Incognito & Cryo Hops in the whirlpool & double dry hopped with Citra, Idaho 7, Vic Secret, finished with Citra Cryo; 4.28 overall

Pours an effervescent gold with a thumb of beige colored head. Above average head retention & very good lacing

    S: Pine, green melon

T: Follows the nose, some sweet malt cakeyness, grapefruit as well up front along with dryness. Some tangerine sneaks in along with the grapefruit, plus loads of pine and a kiss of green melon as this beer warms up. Finishes a little dry with pine & grapefruit in spades, just a little malty sweetness

MF: Medium body, restrained carbonation, great balance

This is a no BS West Coast DIPA, drinks fairly easy all things considered

Lovely day on the lake today. Taught my grandson to cast a spinning reel. On his second cast with a real lure after supper, he pulls in a nice lively bass about a pound or so. A few casts later I hear "Papa I got a fighter...". Kayak trip into the weeds later and he lands a gorgeous 3 pounder. Memories in the making.

    In the glass:

It's a Papa lure...kolsch...Tributary Kolsch Style from the mind behind Kate the Great. It's 5% ABV.

Pours crystal clear and a pretty gold color. Maybe a wee bit dark for the style. Foamy white head with decent retention and some nice cling.

Smells slightly sweet, pilsner-ish malts with a little breadiness and crackers. A bit floral, very faint spice, and a little white wine character. Thats checking some happy places so far!

The taste follows exactly. Slightly sweet, bread and crackers. Floral aromatic flavors, white wine grapiness and way late in the taste a fairly assertive spicy hit. Slight bitterness on the finish as well. Don't know if they stuck with Noble hops but it's in that neighborhood.

Feel is slightly dry, clean and crisp, appropriately carbonated. It's right around medium on the body. Spice tingle lingers - kind of a clove and anise seed sensation.

This is not a complex beer but it is damned tasty. Super-easy drinking and plenty of flavor. Really glad to have this one - going to land around the 3.8 to 4.0 mark.

It's good to see some brewers working on some of the classic styles. :+1:

Well, for the time being at least, Imgur refuses to work for posting pictures from my phone. At least on the computer I can copy the link of the image itself. So that is what I will do this weekend.
Should probably start with the beer I had tonight, one sent in a strike from @Ozzylizard - an a Baltic porter at that.
I approached this one with trepidation as chai (the spiced kind) never seemed to be a good thing to mix into a beer. I mean I really like a good spiced tea, and I really like Baltic porters, just never thought to blend them.
Well, Hopping Frog thought about it. And did it.
The pour is stout black, the head a very light brown which leaves copious lacing.
The taste is indeed reminiscent of a spiced tea, but not in an overwhelming manner. Almost polite. Not sure if they put any in, but there is also a lactose or milk sugar vibe going on. Stands to reason I guess.
The feel is a pleasant viscosity, just enough body to carry the flavors and no more.
OA, I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Just goes to show you should stray from your comfort zones occasionally, you might find something excellent out there.

Chhers to @RochefortChris for this Primal Brewing Corruption By Proxy Imperial Stout, 9.8% ABV; 3.43 overall

Pours an effervescent chestnut with a thumb of mocha colored head. Minimal head retention & lacing

S: Cocoa, some dark fruit notes & smokey notes once warm

T: Follows the nose, fairly dry, woody hops, hints of dark cherry tobacco up front. Slight smokeyness, more cocoa, plenty of dryness, plus leafy hops as this beer warms up. Finishes pretty dry with woody hops, & cocoa

MF: Medium body, dialed back carbonation

ABV is well hidden, solid, but not deep RIS, drinks easy enough. A bit too much cocoa for me, need more dark fruits

Tropical Substance IPA from| Von Ebert Brewing

Big aroma of peach and lime peel. This is weirdly fruity tasting, or very fruity and still weird. I taste apricot, peach, prune, and something sharp and bitter in the citrus line. It's sudsy on the tongue with a substantial malty body. Fairly sweet with moderate acidity. The aftertaste is quite bitter but in keeping with the general exuberance of hops. Overall this is something different and certainly drinkable enough for the hardened IPA fan. Brewed with Mosaic, Strata, Sultana, and Krush hops.

    Appearance: Clear gold, good head.

    Smell: Big fresh grapefruit, rind.

Taste: Old school goodness, big sweetened grapefruit flavor comes through immediately and sticks around. Nice bitterness and medium feel. Finishes with grapefruit goodness.

Overall: I believe @Blogjackets brought this to Green Bay, and @GreenBayBA gave it to me when I had to go. Excellent imperial IPA, just hits the perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness that I crave. Awesome sauce!

    Hey All. Happy NB(S)W!
I wanted to drop this one into the conversation from last night. It's new to the DB. Tasty but lacks in a few departments.

Pours a bright, almost clear, straw to gold. rose white head rises a bit but quickly falls off. Low retention leaves only slight lacing.
Nose pops with a very green/vegetal blend of resin first, followed by some guava, papaya, and hints of apricot and berry. The ever-present green hints at grass or alfalfa.
Flavor follows the nose with the dominance of the green notes but still allow for a smooth tropical undercurrent. Quite nice.
Mouthfeel is a tad thin and lacks some carbonation.

Lupulin Lounge by Columbus Brewing Conpany. 8,5% hazy IPA. Cheers.

Pours hazy gold which clarifies upon warming) with white head. Good lacing.

Aroma is the divisive hoppy cat piss nose (which I like in small doses like here). Plenty of citra.

Taste has much less catty flavor as a light bitterness combines with a slight malty backbone . Things dry up quickly at swallow with a fast end to the bitterness. Overall a light dankiness keeps the citra in line.

    Soft mouthfeel with good carbonation.

    Easy drinking imperial.
