Session time

Dry Dock Hefeweizen is probably my favorite session beer at 4.3%
See I knew I could find one that I drink and enjoy, I just don't typically pay that much attention to ABV, instead drink what I like and in moderation.

 

going to have to go with whats in my glass.. prolonged enjoyment.

i've been over thinking this lately myself . planning a weekend with some friends who like to drink. only some of them are craft fans. i'm going to bring some good beers no matter what. but think it would be good to have stuff on hand for all day drinking in the sun purposes. you can't really session Torpedo all day (if you can more power to you)

The term "session beer" is thought to derive from the time when pubs were open for two sessions a day , roughly 11 am to 3 pm and 5.30 pm to 10.30 pm. People commonly drank throughout the session , made possible by low ABV beer.

An anecdote related by the late larger than life Spyke Golding. He was undergoing a medical checkup.
Physician. "Mr. Golding, I have to tell you that you are overweight"
Spyke "I realise that every time I get up"
P. "Do you drink a lot ?"
S. "About 13 pints"
P. "13 pints a week isn't too bad"
S. "No, I mean 13 pints a session"
P. "What does that mean ?"
S. "There is one session every lunchtime and one every evening"
P. "I suggest you cut that by a half"
S. "OK then. I'll just have 12 1/2 pints a session from now on"

Spyke managed to very successfully hold down a teaching job and later edited an award winning beer magazine.It eventually got him in the end but he lived his life to the full.

So, a session beer.One which you can drink indefinitely and still function well.Try doing that even with a 5% ABV beer

Yuengling Light Lager. At 3.2%, it's a refreshing beer that won't break the bank or my liver.

 

I know what a session beer is. I was being flip. There are so many different thoughts on what is "session" it's crazy. I will defer to you and Ding (RIP).

For me, being American, my tolerance is a bit different. I could not/would not drink 13 beers in a "session" no matter the strength. Although 3-4 easy to drink 6% beers would be just fine by me. I would call that a "session".

 

Brooklyn Summer FTW...obviously when it's available. Fall back choice is Yuengling.

 

That's not even a tea break. You need to drink a minimum of five pints for it to count as a session.
