I hope you bought 5 cans of each. Judging the later rounds with warm beers is gonna be both un-fun and uninformative

    Gotcha

So the 5 of you are each taking one sip of each beer each round, and instead of talking about it together you are communicating through this message board. Sounds like an informative poll and a kickass night

Sounds like someone's jealous he didn't make it onto the tasting panel.

My prediction: A good time for all involved. Enjoying beer should be fun and it's often too damn serious on here.

The picture is too big to read. Can you make it smaller?

Uhh no.. we were all colocated for the entire tasting.. and the beer was served at the proper temperature throughout the event. Thanks for your concern.

If I were a betting man I'd put my money on the Tiger Beer.

Are you guys doing it as blind tasting battle so there is no bias going on?

My final 4 with the beers I know would be Sol, Rolling Rock, Dos Equis and that 4th region is a tough one. I throw in Bud at the buzzer in the elite 8.

    Re: the above posts--

Tiger got bounced in a weird matchup with the smokey Taj Mahal. I was not a fan of either. All the early rounds were blind (tasted a pair of beers, voted, the matchup was then revealed), we kind of relaxed the blinds later due to time constraints and the fact that everyone had a pretty good grip on what beer was what by the Elite 8. Sol was watery and Rolling Rock literally smelled and tasted like corn. Corn juice, corn chips, you name it. It was extremely pronounced.

One beer that showed a lot better than I thought despite an early exit was Lone Star. Also the various ice beers were much better than anticipated. Batch 19 was super weird--basically a malty amber and easy to spot by color. Two most brutal were MGD (the consensus loser) and Landshark.

So what's the consensus? I've wanted to do this for way too long, but never got around to it. The anticipation is killing me!

Truly a contest to pick the best of the worst, and pointless, as everyone's cheap beer alternative is different.

Old Style is one of the few I will drink, a Midwestern classic, and not represented. Enough said. And the Mexican, and Mexican copy cats have no business here in the first place.

We have a winner (hours ago actually - sorry for the delayed post). Schlitz Gusto!

Just to recap, the final four was Schlitz Gusto vs. Narragansett and Tecate vs. Genesee. Schlitz Gusto then competed against Tecate in the finals and Schlitz Gusto wound up being the winner.
