The Dakotas and Montana are all in the top 5, but I didn't think anybody lived there?

Per capita. So Ted Turner drinks a bunch and MT makes it to the top 5.

Also could be that this beer isn't actually all being consumed and much of it is in crazy prepper bug out shelters.

Also, the Nevada number is likely skewed by Vegas tourism factoring heavily in to the numerator and not the denominator (of the per capita consumption calculation).

The Wisconsin numbers are probably skewed due to the number of people who venture great distances to come here and drink miller lite.

Good point. Probably true for all the higher tourism states. Hawaii at 19 surprised me, but tourists probably inflate that number quite a bit.

And when you consider that ND likely has very little tourism, it becomes even more impressive that they are #1.

You're number six for shipments, not consumption. For consumption you're 26.

I am kind of surprised that California is low in the consumption department.

Wine is so huge in California. 9/10 bottles of US wine are produced there and it is super cheap compared to other states, so I'm sure that competition drives the beer numbers down quite a bit.
