Is Weihenstephaner Vitus in your area?

    For me this has been my biggest want and until today, a white whale for me. I say today because after several years of searching for Vitus, I was at a hole in the wall liquor store and managed to find several bottles of this beer. I have been able to find other Weihenstephaner beers except Vitus with no problem and when I asked the liquor stores around me why they couldn't get Vitus, I was told it was an import issue and that it likely would never be brought to MN.

    After making several beer runs to neighboring states, I still couldn't find Vitus and for the longest time I thought I would have to use a website to try and get a bottle of this. But was really hoping to avoid paying for shipping.

    After all of that, I was wondering if any fellow BAs have come across this beer on their store shelves or what beers in the Weihenstephaner portfolio they are able to get on a regular basis?

    TLDNR: Couldn't find Vitus for years and now it's on the shelves, Is Weihenstephaner Vitus distributed in your area? What's up with that?

    Had their Hefe a few days ago and it was amazing, I'd like to try the Vitus as well.

    This is an easily attainable shelf beer around here and I'm glad that it is. Delicious stuff.

    Easy to find in California. when in doubt Whole Foods always has it in stock.

    I bought a bottle of Vitus on Saturday and there were easily 6-8 more on the shelf. So its also easily attainable in the Tampa area.

    if you go to a good German bar you've got a good shot at finding it. I've had trouble finding it on shelves as well

    I love this beer too but had no idea it was hard to find in certain states as its all over the place in NJ. And i am sure everyone here in NJ would happily welcome some Vitus for Surly trades with those of you in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

    Thankfully it is easy to find around here, I know a place that sells it for $3.29, I buy a lot of it. Fantastic beer!

    Weihenstephaner is readily available in MA. I keep a few of each in the basement at all times. Their Korbinian is great as well as their Heff and Dunkel. The Kristal is very good as well. One of my favorite brewers and when you consider the price they are outstanding.

    Lucky enough to have a cool German bar near me that has it on tap often. Nothing quite like a massive pretzel with salami and cheese to go with a liter of Vitus.

    When I lived in Tampa I drank this stuff at least a couple times a week. Here in Charlotte, NC it is available through Empire Distribution, but I have yet to see a bottle shop that has it in regular stock. Great beer.

    Thanks for the feedback all!

    I paid $3.29 for the bottle so it definitely made my day seeing on the shelf.

    There is a really good German pub not too far from me that has Weihenstephaner as it's primary beer brand but they don't have the Vitus and I got the same "import issue, good luck finding it" response so I was curious as to the sudden availability of this awesome beer.
