Previous top 250 beers

    I have always been curious what was the number one beer before HT took its place. Not only that, I would love to see what the top 250 beers were 5 years ago or even 10 years ago, just for kicks. I tried finding this but with no luck.

    Does anybody have any memory of what were the top beers years ago or even if there is an accessible list of previous top 250 beers?

    Good post...i read somewhere that DFH 90 min was up there on the list years back

    I agree that a historical Top 20 at least would be sweet. Would rule to see year by year top beer rankings!

    More often than not, it was westy 12

    I've been on BA for 7 years lurked for 2-3 before that. When I first joined Westy 12 was the top beer. I seem to remember saving/printing top 100 lists when I went to beligum as list of beers to get. I'll search some of my old spreadsheets and see if I have anything laying around.

    It got vastly changed around about 2 years ago when they re-did the formula.

    This thread definitely happened before the site changed and all the old threads were lost. It was a spreadsheet from, at the time, the top 100 from 5 years prior. Hopefully the right person sees this and still has it stored somewhere, but I think a lot of those informative fellows are no longer here, sadly.

    Westy XII and pliny definitely still at the top, but I remember some weird stuff like Victory Storm King in the top 20.

    Storm King was way up there back in the day.

    Wow, Storm King? I would not have guessed that. I have never tried it, but still would not have guessed that.

    The only thing I remember from about 3 years ago when I joined was Westy 12 being #1.

    Someone posted a link of the top 100 from 5-10 years ago and it was really interesting. did anyone bookmark it? I think storm king was #1

    I know a saw someone posted an archive link not long ago and the Top 10 was dominated by Quads (the big 3) and stouts. Only 1 or 2 DIPAs on the list I saw.

    wait, so people used to be into beers that didn't touch bourbon barrels or were widely distributed and not available on only one day of the year? i dont believe it

    Storm King is a helluva beer. especially at the price point. i do miss the 6 packs though

    I believe the list looked a lot more akin to ratebeer's top 50?

    I believe Westvleteren 12 and Pliny (Elder or Younger, can't recall) used to bounce back and forth quite a bit. Also, I think the top 250 is somewhat new; before that I think it was the top 100.

    It's hard to imagine Dark Lord ever being #1; I wouldn't even put that beer in the top 250 beers from the Midwest.

    Masala Mama was the #1 IPA for quite a while.

    When I look at ratebeer top 50 they tend to align much more with my taste.
