I went to Target and was checking out their beer selection and saw they had stone brewing in bombers. Then I saw Sculpin IPA for 6.99. I bought 3. Anyone else see these beers at their local Target?
So far, every local Target I've been to is now carrying beers like this. Even better, it seems they have started to change their inventory and carrying more craft and less "import".
And check the dates. Target near me has Sculpin and Stone and some other craft but it doesn't move too fast. Yesterday I grabbed a Sculpin bottled late January and at checkout the clerk wanted to slide my drivers license through their system. I told him no way, I already had to replace my credit card because of their shoddy security, and didn't want my identity stolen this time. He called a manager over to override whatever info it is they're collecting and I was on my way.
I remember seeing Stone IPA at the one by me but it was sitting out on the shelves and was over 3 months past the enjoy by date. I haven't looked at the beer there in a while so things may have improved.
Yep, I think that was the date on the one I grabbed., too More on Ballast Point date codes http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/ballast-point-sculpin-no-bottle-date-weird.116742/
Now is probably the safest time ever to use a credit card at Target. Just like after people died at jack in the box, they made sure that s**t was well-done for months afterwards
My local Target has started carrying bombers of craft beer at competitive prices, but for some reason they are also selling the large cans of Sapporo for like $8.99.
I think most Target's in SoCal are carrying Stone, Ballast Point, and Lagunitas now. Prices still can't compete with Total Wine ($11.99 for 6 pack of Sculpin bottles, hard to beat) and I would carefully check bottle dates. I don't buy Sculpin if it is more than a month old. Target also has a large selection of crafty / faux craft beer.
Beauty about Target is they are DSD and do not warehouse. In theory, they should be fresher than grocery chains..,
Went to Target this weekend. They had Sculpin which was 7 months old and Ruination bombers for $3.99 which were 7 days from reaching their enjoy by date. Target may be supplying craft beer but that doesn't mean it's a place you want to purchase from.
