Interestingly, Bourbon Abominable is an American Strong Ale and it's rated at 4.44. Firestone 17 is an American Strong Ale and it's rated at 4.46.

Take that BITCHESSS - 2 hundredths of a point! You ain't on my level! That's like one half of one whole percent better than you, Washington.

Now, I even started off kinda agreeing with you that the quantity of superlative beer brewed in Washington is lower than it should be. But your hyperbole and weak arguments aren't helping your cause. The last review for Bourbon Abominable was from a dude in Wisconsin and he rated it 4.66. Surely he thinks that it's a world class beer even though he doesn't have a dog in this fight?

I mean, I don't go snooping around the great lakes board looking for arguments; I have enough arguments right here ... with you. ;-)

Is that serious question? I don't recall mentioning those beers. Ruth, possibly. How about Parabola, PNC, Sucaba, Double DBA, Doggie Claws, Adam from the Wood, Fred, Matt, etc etc etc.. yes, those are easily better than any beers out of Washington, and it's just the tip of the iceberg.

YOU asked how many people were defending Washington beers on the thread implying that since there were none on the thread none existed. Or that's how I read it. I offered that person - and he is not unique if you would take the time to look - as a counterpoint. I was engaging under the rules you provided. So I gave both anecdotal evidence - individual reviewers - and more subjective evidence - an aggregate numeric rating .You can certainly flip flop criteria - e.g when I give an aggregate, point to a specific in the bros (who rated batch 1 I believe ... And later batches have improved imho, even last year to this year) and when I give a specific dude claim that a specific example is meaningless - but that's shady rhetoric. Objective fact is that at least one beer defies your theory.
This is why zealots get dismissed: they think their theories can sustain no exceptions. You've got a good general thesis, but we are forced into petty argument since you think its air tight. A more interesting discussion would be why, with all the quantity of brewers in WA, aren't more making phenomenal / world class beer.

That's my last valley in this silly debate.

I don't recall you mentioning any beers. But I do recall you saying:

Which is a stubborn and pretty much untenable position to take.

I can settle with that. THAT is pretty much my stance on Washington beer, and I hope it changes in the future. Didn't mean for this to turn into an internet squabble, especially with something so subjective. Cheers.

To be fair, they announced that the price would go up after the anniversary sale.

Raise the price after the release? Think it would be lowered since it didn't sell out at the lower price.

Correct. In the announcement on their website they said "the first day price will be $20 ...", implying the price would raise sometime in the future. That being said, it's a kind of a vague and roundabout way to announce a sale that runs a serious risk of rubbing people the wrong way.

It's funny how much presentation matters. Had the website initially stated "This will retail for $25/bottle, but in honor of our anniversary it will be on sale for $20/bottle for the first day," it would probably drive more early sales and not come as a shock later on. I likely would have bought an extra bottle or two and felt like I was getting a bargain, instead of passing up extra bottles later on, feeling suspicious that I'm being taken advantage of. Same action, two completely different responses ... we're funny creatures.

I think "butt hurt" is a bit of an exaggeration. Think you're a troll? Yes. Care about your opinion? No. Enjoy your Firestone Walker and HotD.
