Have you taken a vacation around beer? If so - where?

Can anyone recommend a place a guy should go that's relatively inexpensive? I was thinking something over a long weekend.

Portland came to mind of a location where a person could hit a lot of great craft beer bars/locations. Perfection would be somewhere that a person can get around without renting a car or going broke on cabs.

Did a trip to Portland last June with my wife. Perfect beercation destination in my opinion. So many different joints in similar areas that make it easy to walk from place to place or with the occasional short cab ride/bus trip. We were there for 5 days. If flying in, a 3-4 day weekend would be perfect.

I'll be heading south later this month, and Firestone Walker, Stone, Lost Abbey and Pizza Port are all on the list.

Bamberg, Germany is relatively inexpensive once you are there. The darned plane ticket, not so much.

Portland, OR , San Diego (aka. whales vagina)) and then Seattle will be in the future.

    I've beer-cationed in VT a few times.

Dude, jump in the car and do something in your region. Don't know where in Wisconsin you are, but Minnesota, IL, MI or Ohio could all be easy and inexpensive trips.

Just did the Russian River/Rare Barrel (Founders Club Member) Road trip from San Diego last weekend.

    Drakes
    Rare Barrel
    Lagunitas
    Russian River
    Sante Adairius Rustic Ales
    Firestone Barrelworks.

Over a 3 day weekend, not bad. Had a great time.

Last summer I did a sorta local beercation/fitness trip up to Duluth. Hit up all the breweries up there. Made a run to WI for some stuff there and also managed to bike 50 miles, do some running and enjoy the North Shore. Stayed at a really cheap hotel figuring I wouldn't spend much time there, and I didn't

I have done this multiple times. It seems these days the possibilities are endless. Chances are all you have to do is cross a state line to get some different beer distribution. Since I've moved to the MO, I've been to Springfield & Omaha specifically for beer related weekends (supposed to go to Des Moines this weekend). I've also done the GABF weekend trip which was more expensive than the local, driveable trips. I've also flown back east and done a round about, "make shift", tour through eastern PA and central/south Jersey. All depends on who/what you want to see and how much is available to spend.

Between the Regional Rail, Broad Street Line, Buses and the Market Frankford Line you could do bars/breweries in Philadelphia and surrounding areas without taking a cab. However you might want to do the stuff further out from the city during the day as the Regional lines stop running around midnight.

Planning a Paris & Belgium trip as we speak. Plan to hit a few beer locales in Belgium, but need to balance the trip with things my wife is into as well.

I would think that a trip to upstate NY and Vermont during the fall (when the trees are turning colors) would be a great overall vacation. From a beer perspective visit Ommegang (and a side trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame) and then travel to Vermont to drink Hill Farmstead, Lawsons, Alchemist and other beers. Lots of great hiking in Vermont.

Hopefully @Flashy will report back on his vacation to Northern Vermont.

    Cheers!

Taking a 6 hour ride to Vermont in two weeks. Going to do my best to get two cases of Heady and stop by Hill Farmstead and Lawson's Finest Liquids. This is my second beercation to Vermont. My wife's a saint.

Two years ago my girlfriend sent my friend and I on a weekend trip to Founders, Bells, New Holland, Three Floyds, Fat Heads, and Great Lakes. In a few weeks I will be heading down to San Diego for a few days of breweries. But really, any travel for me usually involves what breweries I can visit along the way.

My gf doesn't drink beer, but over the summer she unexpectedly instigated a four-day weekend in Vermont for us. I adapted accordingly.

North Shore is a beautiful place to enjoy brews and not have anyone bother you.

I assume/hope you'll be visiting La Cave a Bulles in Paris. The Pompidou is extremely close, if you wanted to let her go look at all that art stuff while you go pick Simon's brain, and his vast collection of brews.

Sorry. I just want to wrap my head around this. Correct me if I'm wrong...

"Honey. I want you and your friend to go on this beer trip, please."
