Surely many of us agree that this forum could use an easily searchable/bump-able "I'm visiting Portland, where should I go?" thread. Here, I'll attempt to cull the consensus "must-hits," along with other highly recommended PDX breweries, brew pubs, bottle shops & beer bars that appear in this type of BA thread. Recommendations & suggestions are encouraged.
    -guajolote

    Cascade Brewing Barrel House

    Hair of the Dog
    Upright Brewing

Other Highly Recommended Breweries & Brew Pubs
    Breakside Brewery
    Gigantic Brewing
Hopworks Urban Brewery / Hopworks Bike Bar

    (A Few) Beer-centric Restaurants

Just about any decent restaurant in PDX has an acceptable beer list. Many are more-than-acceptable. This might be the most debatable section of this thread.

    Bazi Bierbrasserie
    Cheese Bar
    Cheese and Crack Snack Shop
    Grain & Gristle
    Higgins Restaurant
    Lardo
Raven & Rose / The Rookery

    Eater PDX (great food resource)

    Some helpful maps
digita7693’s map (beer map, restaurants, hotels, cafes, to-do)

    Beer Maps
    The Beer Mapping Project
    Oregon & Washington Brew Map
    Oregon Beer Country map

    Transit
PDX Bus (free and awesome app)
    Trimet

A couple suggested Pub Crawl maps
    Cascade > HotD > Bailey's > Deschutes > Upright > HUB/Side Bar
Inner SE Pub/Brewery Crawl (APEX -> Beermongers -> The Commons -> HotD -> Cascade -> Base Camp -> Burnside)
Sunnyside Pub Crawl (Horse Brass -> Belmont Station -> Hawthorne Hop House -> Bazi Bierbrasserie)
North Portland Pub Crawl (Amnesia -> Bridgetown Beerhouse -> Prost! -> HUB BikeBar -> Lompoc Sidebar/5Q)

    PDX Airport Info
The beer flows at PDX as well. There are two Laurelwood brewpubs (concourses A & E), a Rogue brewpub (concourse D), and several other restaurants with good tap lists. Rogue and Laurelwood are both past security, so you can pick up bottles or growlers and carry them on the plane. There are also Made in Oregon stores past security with very good bottle selections.

*disclaimer: This post is not intended to be a catch-all for Portland beer establishments. There are literally hundreds of well-regarded beer institutions throughout the greater Portland area, many of which are not listed in this post. This thread is an attempt to present the most frequently recommended and highest-regarded spots often cited in the Northwest BA forum. Exploration and experimentation are certainly encouraged!

The other thread needed a bump/cleaning up...
sadly removed Wildwood from the list, RIP; only a couple of other small tweaks.

Apex is great to try (hard to get) stuff that if you are coming from far away.Tin Bucket is awesome in the fact that it is close to some of the best food carts in the city. Also, it is extremely cheap and friendly staff. Additionally, rent a car and go to Hood River. Double Mountain FTW.

I'll try. I had to edit the last update after I got a "too many characters" warning when trying to post it. I guess the solace we can take in Wildwood's closing is the fact that we gained 8 more characters. :astonished:

OP, you just made my day. I came here to do a search for exactly this info, and you gave me more than I would have thought that I needed. You da' man!! You just need to put a red flag on this post and bump it for when any PtE shows up in bottles.

thats what Guajolote and myself have been doing for a while:slight_smile: Not the PtE part, most Portlanders are too busy drinking Hop Venom, RPM and all the other great Oregonian IPAs to chase after that:wink:

That is way up by the St Johns bridge. We might not have a car the days we are in Portland, using public transportation there, will get a car the day we go out to Bend.

It really depends on what you are looking for. Occidental is a no frills brewery that serves up some incredible German beers. St Johns is also a cool pocket of Portland, IMO. Cacthedral Park that Occidental butts up against is pretty cool to tool around.

If you want to hit the heavy hitters, drink some strong, funky, and hoppy beers - it might be better spending your time elsewhere.
