Any widely available oak aged saisons? I had Surette last night and was floored. Unfortunately it's a bit pricey and not available in NJ.

Any other examples of this style?

Art by Hill Farmstead is probably a good example.

There are widely available HF anything? :astonished:

I agree, OP, Surette is fantastic, and I think you're going to have a hard time finding any readily available oak-aged saisons as good. That said, I'd maybe give some Jolly Pumpkin offerings a try. I think most of theirs are oak aged, although I've yet to have one as good as Surette...

Sofie? It's aged in wine barrels, but they're oak, presumably.

I have selective vision sometimes. But then again, I didn't quite expect to see "oak aged" and "widely available" in the same sentence either. Mea culpa.

Sofie was going to be my first rec. It's 80% fresh, 20% aged in wine barrels with brett and oranges. Goose Island Halia and Gillian are saisons aged in wine barrels with brett and souring bacteria, along with a few other ingredients.

What about Allagash Interlude...I know wine barrels, but they're oak and is easily available in NJ.

Another recommendation for Sofie. My favorite Goose Island beer. Perfect in the spring or summer (or really, any other time of year).

If you like white wine of any type (especially chardonnay), you'd like this. Oh, and it can age. Sofie with 8 - 12 months of age on it is terrific.

BFM SqRt 225 would be another widely available oak barrel aged saison. One of my favorites, too.

For those in PNW, I believe Black Raven's Pour Les Oiseaux is an oak aged saison.

Either way, it's a damn fine beer and well worth seeking out.

Crooked Stave's Saison Vielle seems like an appropriate option.

Sofie is great with some age to it, a touch too sweet for me fresh. Elder Brett is solid. Prairie's Puncheon might also still be around, but might not, also depends on your market.

I've never been a big fan of Goose Island's saisons for some reason or another; and I've never seen anything by Allagash, Hill Farmstead, or some of the others mentioned so I can't speak for those. However, if you're wanting a saison aged in oak from the SW region, I would highly recommend Prairie Artisan Puncheon.

Massachusetts does not get full Prairie distribution....

There... fixed it. Stupid websites that track where distribution goes lied to me, and I don't know how big Prairie's distributor's reach is in Maine.
