I'm an animal person. I'm on the Misanthropic side. So I understand the pain you're feeling. The only brew(s) on my mind would be Rochefort 10, or Pannepot Reserva any prior 2011 vintages. That should take the edge off, well at least in my case.

Man I cant tell you how much I feel for you, lost our Chow Chow of 13 years 3 years ago and we are just now on Saturday going to get (2) Golden Retrievers. Pick a good high ABV Barley Wine or Old Ale and sip away and don't drown the feelings.
    Cheers to Lily

One of the saddest days of my life was putting down my 13 year old yellow lab two years ago. I would just go with an old favorite, perhaps something you used to drink in 1999. Best of luck over the coming days.

So sorry, they really are family and a lot of the time better than other family members.
Most labs are crazy and wild. How about a yellow wild ale? Whatever it is, it should be something you truly enjoy or maybe something thats more of a staple of yours that reminds you of her. Feel better brother.

Man, so sorry to hear you have to say goodbye to your homegirl. I've lost four human friends, but losing my dog was still the hardest day of my life. Personally, I ws too distraught to do much drinking, but if you're up for it, I'd probably crack the nicest bottle in my cellar to salute your pal. Best wishes to you and Lily, I'm sure she's grateful to have been your dog.

Sorry. I lost a husky girl 4 years ago to cancer. It's hard, I still miss her. I can relate and you have my sympathies.

I had a dog named Lily a long time ago. She unfortunately didn't live very long, but I also had to put down my golden retriever last year. It's a hell of a terrible thing to have to do. Whatever you choose will be just fine.

I feel bad for "liking" the post, but I know well how you feel.

There's no wrong answer, but I'd recommend a nice, special beer. Been saving a Westvleteren XII? Aging a Parabola? Have a favorite? Have a beer that reminds you of nights spent with her at your feet (or in your lap)?

    Again, you can't go wrong.

If it were me, I'd probably pick something around 10% ABV, and have several, and leave it at that. Then again, when my Sly Guy passed last year, I didn't feel like drinking anything. Maybe nothing is the right answer, too.

Sorry to hear the news. :slight_frown:

Having had to put down 4 Goldens and a Yellow Lab in my time, I feel for you man. My last Golden, Rusty, died on my birthday so I definitely needed something to dull the pain.

In your situation i'm going to say drink a Mogli from Caldera, assuming you have access to it. The Lab it was brewed in memory of wasn't a Yellow but I think you can make an exception in this case.

This was the same brew I was going to recommend. I am truly sorry to hear about this crossroads you and your fur-baby have reached. I've been there a few times, and as the current family member of a 7yo border collie, it's always in the back of your mind that the time is finite, and things like this are inevitable. Just rest assured that both of your lives were so much richer to have happened together! Cheers to you and Lily, bro!

Is there a beer that you enjoyed often around her, or one that you may have let her have a taste of once in while? If so, that would be my choice, and re-live those moments. I had to put my Chewy down last october, and that is what I did in his honor. It is tuff to lose a good friend, but the pain will dull, and the memory of her will live on forever!

Sorry, man. As someone who has always had dogs, my heart goes out to you. I'm not sure what to recommend, probably something big and strong,if only to help dull the senses.

I'm sorry for the news. My last dog, who was 14 and with me through some terrible times like losing my brother and having my house destroyed by a hurricane, passed away from what we suspect cancer in April 2013. I recently got a new dog, a carolina dog who is an awesome dog, but not a day goes by where I don't think about old Rocky. When he passed, I drank a 2013 BCBCS and 2013 Stone IRS. I suggest something with high ABV (but for good reason, not to get reckless) to help alleviate the pain. Even if it isn't as high ABV as those two beers above, make sure it is something amazing that helps celebrate a great life. No point in drinking mediocrity at such a time!

I'll give out a toast to Lily tonight.

Sorry for your loss. Toasting to you and Lily here; and here's another suggestion for an appropriate drink if you can find it your way:

Edit: I see someone posted the Mogli label a few minutes ago. . . . Labs are awesome dogs. Cheers. . . .

It's not nice to make a man cry into his beer you know. For real though, I'm sorry for your loss. My pup just turned 15 last week and I fear nothing more than the day I'll have to say goodbye :slight_frown:

That sucks brother. I'm so sorry. We lost our dog Mollie a couple of years ago (she was 14) and it sucks, dogs are family.
