Yes, it's hard to not walk out of the beer store without spending twice as much as I planned on. Lately, I've been on more of a brewing bender, which brings on a whole different list of expenditures. Oh well, you only live once.

Nah, I have pretty good self control over how much I spend on beer.

I used to spend much more then I kinda had a moment of clarity about the amount of money in beer I was just keeping in my basement alone. Decided to clear the cellar (and it's been quite fun...let me tell ya) and start anew. $40 a month. No more, no less.

I spend more than that but I wouldn't really call it a problem, more like a blessing.

    Usually, yeah.

Typically, I go in looking to get two six packs of a good low ABV beer, like Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen and SABL.

And I end up getting those, *and* a bomber of something.

I know the problem well. I've found the best way to avoid it is to go to the beer store with only enough cash to purchase what you originally intended to purchase. Leave all excess cash and credit cards at home. That way you're forced to stay on budget.

I guess my problem is I don't set a budget, probably because I know I could never follow it.

I get into trouble when I go to 3 Floyds. I'll go for something like BA Moloko, buy two, get two Majsgoop, and what's that? Zombie Dust is available, might as well buy a case or two since I'm here, good way to drop $180.

Wish I had the "clarity" to clear my cellar. It would be "spectacular".
But then I'd be bummed by not having any of that great stuff left. At that point, it might take years to get back some of those:slight_frown:

This time of the year is detrimental to my budget, I worked on my cellar last week to make room, pulling from my cellar hurts

Whatever you do, don't start trading. Suddenly you'll find yourself spending $40 on beer for yourself, $40 on beer to ship to a trading buddy, and $20-40 more to get it there. You wonder how a trip to the store for a sixer turned into $120 investment.

In all seriousness, I still haven't done very well getting my beer budget in check. Some months seem to be better than others but then somebody will announce a special release and ,bam, I'm dropping another $100 on 5-10 bottles of beer I didn't even know I needed a few weeks earlier.

We're pretty lucky in Wisconsin- lots of really great $7-9 six packs that are very good, so I find myself buying fewer expensive shelf beers (unless it's a special occasion).

I generally go in expecting to spend $10, come out spending $20. Does it suck? Yeah. But I got more beer, so...

The trips to the bottle shop don't get me. It's the weekend in VT where I end up with 2+ cases of Heady 2+ cases of Mastermind, buying and trading for a bunch of Lawson's bottles and assorted other bombers and growlers that set me back more than I'd publicly admit....

I was looking at Beermenus.com and it seems like anywhere even close to me, the range is $12.99-$16.99

    Is it cheaper by you?

I spend on average for one single night of drinking 30-40$ at the very minimum at the beer store upwards to hundreds obviously , but never ever walked out spending less than 30 in my craft beer career, it's an expensive hobby.
sometimes I sit around and think about all the money I would save if I didn't ever get into it...

its minimum 16$ six pack in new york

Its 11 or 12 bucks at my local beer stop. 6 pack of cans. I'm in SoCal at the moment, so it's probably cheaper here due to the proximity to San Diego, and availability. I had no idea is was so expensive though. The more you know! :stuck_out_tongue:

Ha, yeah, I wish it was cheaper. The $14.99 cans in what I'm getting tomorrow. Still better than $8.99 for a bomber, but still pretty pricey.

Something tells me I may end up with a 4-pack of Surly Furious also. $26 it is!
