Interesting. Yeah, we don't know, and I was simply using the bourbon evaporation as a reference because it's all I could find. I assume that as a large company they would try to reduce this as much as possible, but I just don't know. Anyway, nice to have some though on this, as there seem to be random numbers thrown around in different BCS threads.

The sales data ends at retailer purchase from distributor. Enormous chains like Wal-Mart have that data and Nielsen tracks scanned sample data from chains (only reliable for trends as it is sample data). Retail velocity is calculated based on retail re-orders/order size for normal beer, so the data you are suggesting is there for sku's that can be reordered from the distributor. However, there would be no way to know on items you can't reorder from the distributor that are very limited, like BCBS.

In 2012 I found it on the shelf for $6 a bottle. 2013 never saw it. 2014 got a call from my beer spot and they held a 4 pack for me, $24. Great beer. Once a year. I would buy a case if I found one. I do not think its over priced. Comes out to $12 for a large format bottle. Everyone pays this and more for much less quality beer. I don't chase beer but when I see what I want I grab it.

    Enjoy

I want to say this in the nicest way possible. People can make as many posts as they want. Some post a different. Some are questions about the variants of the beer some about black Friday stories or whatever. And purple should be able to talk about whatever they want. Obviously if this is the bizzilionth post about bcbs and people are still talking about it then the buzz is still there. There are other posts about other things. You don't need to be in conversations you don't want to be in and you sure as hell don't need to go into those conversations proclaiming that your sick of hearing about it. Have a nice day please.

Forgot to mention that KBS is $20+ for a 4 pack (48 oz)...

Ah, yes. Never seen it though, and technically it's closer to Bourbon County Coffee, but yeah KBS does have a comparable price point.

It's been proven that scarcity and price have a direct impact on a person's opinion of quality. With that being said, I stood in line for two hours in the pouring rain to have the honor of buying two bottles of BCBS for $18 and it's the most fantastic liquid that has ever passed my lips.

I work for a distributor that has had it for three years. It has stayed the same price to the liquor store owners for all three years we have had it. I am just bummed there is not more. We did not get any coffee or vanilla in Connecticut and very very little Barleywine ( our distributor only got 10 cases for the 800 accounts we have). I LOVE It!!!! It is worth the $24.99 a 4 pack I paid for it ( no breakage room freebies on this beer. ). I love stouts and I am glad I sell this one.

It depends some stores have a list of names they call when it comes in. Some stores save it for regular customers who ask for it. i would say only about 25% of customers ( in the areas I work )actually put it on the shelf for random sales. I saw it yesterday in a couple of random places that surprised me they still had it.

BCBS + Varients are all great, but there are so many other easier to get BA's that are the same caliber. Even if you can get a 4-pack for $20 (which is low) which is $5 for 12 oz. I know a lot of fantastic BA Bomber's out there in the $10-12 range.

Of course it is. it's cheaper than most bombers out there that aren't world class 15% barrel aged stouts. Kinda of a stupid question. Did you do math before posting this?

I'd pay $5 per bottle. No more than that out of principal. That being said, I have a family and a job, and a life..so I'm not waiting in some stupid line with a bunch of hipsters. And because of that, I've never actually been able to get my hands on any BCBS outside of beer fests and somehow I've managed to survive.
